Where do l report a driving instructor.

Recommended Posts

Hello All.

I know this is possibly the wrong place sorry if it is.

l have been mulling over if l should report this instructor. I live beside a college. The students regularly park on the road and so do the instructors.

On Friday l was taking the rubbish out and l witnessed him having a go at a young female learner he was trying to make her back up further than she could go. She was already on the behinds car bumper nearly. Allegedly there was plenty of space. He was getting really loud gesturing and l was worried. I noted the name and after a further 5 minutes they left.

I decided to be garden busy during this time.

Monday same guy he was trying to have a learner drive the wrong way down a temporary very well marked 1 way street and yesterday we was having a road surfaced well they had the massive red barriers across the road a bit further up clear signs saying no entry. He sat there honking his horn to get threw. One of the staff came over and told him the road was closed and he started having a go at the staff member demanding he is let threw. A load of people were at the moved bus stop and could hear the noise.

I googled the driving school but found he is the only instructor so thats a no go. Cant find if he is part of a governing body but also the dvla is not much help

Where next please.

Yeah l get that. I have googled him and the reviews are awful. Not that they may take reviews as evidence but based on them l dont know how he is still teaching.

As he seems to be self empoyed running a driving instrctors business that he owns there's not much point in complaining to the business. The DVSA have a page explaining what they do if you complain to them.

Complain about a driving instructor - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

Complaining about their behaviour is one of the things you can do. It's not clear whether only the learner driver can complain or whether you can as a witness. Complain and see what they say. If you see him do it again try and get a video recording to support your case. Without some evidence or other people willing to be named as witnesses he'll just deny it, he will say that there was plenty of room for the driver to reverse further , etc.

No idea how long it'll take DVSA to deal with a complaint. If they're working with the speed of most government departments during COVID it'll take them months to act.  At which time the driving instructor will say, with some justification, that he can't be expected to remember anything about a single lesson months previously and has no idea what you are talking about ☹️

Yeah l realised that when l looked the company name up. I thought that as the name school was on the car that there was a bigger company as others that use school do have a company.

Thank you. If necessary l will back the student for reversing and l wonder if the company doing the resurfacing has complained.
