Could you please advise where I can get help with the following problem that I have with the ebay auction site. I have been a member of this site for a few years, but wish to leave. Because I can't sell on it anymore I am told by ebay I can't close my account. Yet they take around £3.86 a month off me and I want this stopped. Can they legally stop me closing my account?

My seller status was indefinately suspended because of a dubious complaint made by a buyer that claimed the good were never received, yet I definately send them.

Ebay say that I can't close my account as I am a suspended seller and might attempt to re-register and they would not have any details of me if my account was closed. I find this strange coming from a large organisation such as Ebay. I simply have no interest in buying through Ebay and want no more to do with them.

Can anyone advise what action I can take please.

Thanks for any help given.

I guess you need to give them a choice. Either close the account or give you a good reason why they are taking this money off you.

Are they taking this fee (what is it for anyway?) from your bank account/credit card ? I guess you could put a halt to that.

  • 2 years later...

I have the same problem....I have been restricted from selling,, as partly I have multiple accounts that I thought I had closed...but as I found out they hadn't...and you are not allowed to sell with restricted accounts....I have emailed them for the last 2 weeks to sort this and all they can say is we cant close any accounts so I cant reregister...not that I want to now after the way I have been treated....they will not take any notice..... so I have registered with another auction site.....and the sad thing is I am a business man.......they make their own rules up as they go I think....

It is a shame the original poster did not return to update their thread.
