I wonder if anyone can help me with this problem. I have rented a house from a housing association for the past twelve and a half years. It has recently come to light that the third bedroom does not meet the guidelines laid down in the Housing Act 1985 and although classed as a bedroom it does not meet the space for a one unit person, one over the age of ten years. My rent agreement states that the house is a three bedroomed 5 person house, which it is clearly not. Do I have any recourse over the landlord for the inaccuracy of the original agreement, and as it was a new build why weren't the plans checked for room size prior to their construction.

Any information or contacts would be appreciated.
