Not if theyve already notified you in the award notice of what your payments will be.

Alternatively, a letter may still be winging its way in the post.

Yes they will pay us but that's not the point, what I was asking should they let you know in advance, that the payments are going to stop or reduce so you can cancel any D/D you have going out and budget, for the loss of money you are going to lose. like I said it left us with £8 , the lads bus pass is £10 a week so he can go to collage he also needs £20 for food , the daughter needs £9 for school dinners ,and we need

to eat.

Hi suziebear67

What a thing to happen.

Your employers seem to have told them you are earning more than you are.

You have rung the Tax Credit people to explain that. And they have accepted that it seems, but will be 2 weeks till payments resume.

Your last payment should have been last Wednesday but your Tax Credits was stopped or suspended.

No letter was received by you,but may be on the way.Wonderful.

So at least a week before you get a payment and may take longer.

Your Direct Debits went out and were paid but only left you with 8 pounds to survive till payments resume.

And you have children. This is terrible for you.

I would ring them now and politely,i know at times like this it is hard to keep your cool and ask them to urgently lift the stop or suspension.

I believe this can be done manually,in some circumstances. And if possible record the conversation.2 Mobiles or something like that.

As they record calls for training purposes they say.

Also i would ask your employer what happened that they gave incorrect info to the Tax Credit office if this is the case.

Something clearly went wrong somewhere.Mixed up to say the least.

The HR dept i believe would deal with such things. And ask for a advance of salary due to the turmoil you are going through.

Just a idea. They may be able to help.

If it comes to any charges from Direct Debits etc whether Bank or company that do not receive their usual payment you must ring them explain and hopefully they will lift any charge they have made as a special circumstance.

In the meantime try to arrange Direct Debits to be suspended for a month.I do not see what else you can do.

Perhaps others know a way round this problem you may have shortly if payments do not resume fast enough.

As for the question can Tax Credits stop payments or Suspend Payments without prior notification, the only answer i can give after a little experience of that problem i have yet to write about, yes they can and do to many people.

I hope your problem soon gets sorted.Tell us when you ring,if you do what they say.

People rely heavily on these payments and when this kind of problem arises it throws you into turmoil, stresses you and creates possible problems quickly.

Best wishes and a hopeful speedy end to your troubles.

Tawnyowl.

I do apologise.I suppose everyone noticed my mistake.

The post above was directed to filrobbo.

It is so easy to make mistakes.I hope that was a reasonable reply.

If not just tell me.Then i will prepare better for the next time i delve into the Working Tax world.Where mistakes can be made.

And if you are not happy with the Tax Credit people and decisions you can complain.

They seem quite willing to learn from any mistakes they make, they say.As they did in my case. Will write about it soon.

I hope filrobbo, your problem is soon sorted out.

Thank tawnyowl I have now got payments I was told over the phone that they could not make payments it takes 2 weeks to go through the system I made phone call to my MP tax credits In bank today, its not the first time they have made mistakes with me, in 2007 payments stopped because they got me mixed up with someone in Australia, you cant make this up, then I was getting letters from them with different national insurance number, it went on for 5 years they were taking £2000 off T/C for over payments. we did get it sorted we got £10,000 back a big letter of apology for all the mistakes they have made, and it will not happen again, the next years tax credits award send we have been over paid and that we had to pay back £12,000 because I was in Australia, I don't even have a passport. And these people sort out your taxers.

Never known them do that because the award details eveything so effectively youve been notified.

Changes are effected and then notification follows in the post shortly after but not aware of any 28 day deadline

If your circumstances havent changed then neither should the TC claim.

Seems there is someone with very similar details to yourself in Oz and the 2 keep getting crossed and confusing whichever employee looks at your claim.
