reconsider that option and go with a approved debt managementlink3.gif company

How dare they - these gutter companies that have sprung up faster than mushrooms having seen there is a quick and easy buck to make and are there solely to rip you off. They will all disappear up there own back passage when there are no more people to rip off.

Some even insist that you take out finance to cover their fees should they fail to get anything.

Do not go with any of them, they will take half of what is due to you.

CCCS 'is' approved, they are also a registered charity and do everything for free

Hi dave37,

I work for CCCS so I'll not pressurise you either way as I'm not a sales person, so if you want reviews of our service from our clients then they're here http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews182278.html (and thanks to Conniff for his/her kind words).

It's interesting to hear what the advisor at the debt management company said to you. It's a well-known tactic that they use against us (and I've always thought it's an odd one as well, as searching for 'CCCS complaints' doesn't bring up much at all!)

Good luck and if you need any other independent feedback on CCCS post up on CAG - they're all very helpful people.

Regards,

Peer on behalf of CCCS

How has this company known to contact you ? The last thing you need to do is to PAY for a debt management plan.

CCCS, PayPlan ARE approved DMPs - they just dont charge you to advise/assist.

National Debtline can give advice on how you can manage the DMP yourself. You do not NEED to be with a named DMP company to negotiate with your creditors, it sometimes helps just to take the pressure off and to obtain solid advice in order to move forward.

If you are experiencing difficulty in repaying your debts, CASHflow is a way for you to negotiate affordable repayments with your creditors. Before you can use CASHflow, you must have spoken to one of the free advice agencies licensed to offer CASHflow to their clients. The advice agency will start by talking to you about all of the options available, and can help you to decide if CASHflow is the right one for you.

If you decide to use CASHflow, you will be provided with all of the tools you need to be able to complete your own financial statement and negotiate offers of repayment with creditors yourself. This will enable you to stay in control of your situation, but still have support from an adviser at any stage if you need it.

You can contact a local advice agency to check if they offer CASHflow. You can find a list of free advice agencies that are near to you by searching for a money adviser in England or Wales, Scotland, or Northern Ireland.

Alternatively, you can call National Debtline on 0808 808 4000

Also as highlighted in the CAG newsletter...

There is the new CAB system that might also be worth a look, this system saves all your details, has guidance allowance figures to work with if you wish and you do not need to be invited / signed off etc with this system, just log in and away you go (see below)

(Also, there are a number of other self help tools and systems around so might be worth a little exploration if this is what you eventually decide on.)

Hi dave

CCCS are a genuine charity and provide FREE debt management plans with no up front fees where all the payments you make goes to your creditors

Payplan are NOT a charity they are a profit making business but they do provide FREE debt management plans with no up front fees where all the payments you make goes to your creditors.

The fee chargers usually take a monthly percentage out of any payments you make in a debt management plan and in some cases they may be up front fees and / or the first month or two or three of your payments (or the majority of) going to them.

You have to decide at the end of the day

You do occasionally read about how the fee chargers 'work harder' at getting interest & charges suspended / stopped etc but how that can be evidenced I am not sure, for me (or in my opinion) this is just marketing and sales talk and any company that cold calls you, well I know what I would do.

You could always try managing your own DMP, but this is not for everyone as having an agency taking all the hassle out of the situation has obvious advantages.

No organisation is perfect though and to be honest in my opinion client testimonials always make me smile as I have rarely seen a bad one yet.

Always best to make sure you get proper independent advice on all your options based on your full circumstances and that you fully understand them. If you have not already done so then it might be worth checking out the links below to start with.

  • 2 weeks later...

cccs just dumped me like sack of spuds, no letter no telephone call informing me of such, all for missing three payments in two years, there are they to help people like me, and call them selves helpful, now i'm back to quare one having dca phoning me all hours and sack loads of letters demanding full payment, cccs dumped my account now for missing payments, as everyone has something come up, i truely think its because i requested a IVA that got there backs up, letter of complaint heading there way and to any other bodies that will look into this for me, cccs supposed to help and aid and be a charity, what charity just dumps client without notice and without understanding clients needs and reason...... most likly better dealing with dca myself now anyway..... use CCCS with very extreme caution.......

And if u read this CCCS thought u did not judge ur clients, and was fair and open and understanding, wheres ur passion now... just dumping clients..........now who is doing the judgemental stuff......no point me going on, as CCCS will no dought come up with some excuse, SO MUCH FOR FAIR TREATMENT CCCS

No one can help you if you don't help yourself. Missing payments is a no no. You said at the begining how much you could afford, having said that, you should stick to it. If you couldn't have afforded the amount you said each month then you should have said so and set a lower amount.

It's not CCCS that decided to dump you, you haven't adhered to the agreed plan and when payments are missed, CCCS will have had nasty letter from your creditors which is unfair as they have stuck their nose out to help you with no cost to you and you have let them down.

Conniff I couldn't agree with you more. The CCCS ran my DMP and enabled me to pay my debts off. At times things got really tough but my DMP payment was paid each and every month. To Shywazz I say stop whining and take responsibility for your actions, you got into debt and you couldn't make your repayments. So you agreed and signed up to a DMP with the CCCS - you failed to keep your word and now you rant about help and aid - well guess what try helping yourself for once.
