    • Hello,

On 15/1/24 booked appointment with Big Motoring World (BMW) to view a mini on 17/1/24 at 8pm at their Enfield dealership.

Car was dirty and test drive was two circuits of roundabout on entry to the showroom.  Was p/x my car and rushed by sales exec and a manager into buying the mini and a 3yr warranty that night, sale all wrapped up by 10pm.  They strongly advised me taking warranty out on car that age (2017) and confirmed it was honoured at over 500 UK registered garages.

The next day, 18/1/24 noticed amber engine warning light on dashboard , immediately phoned BMW aftercare team to ask for it to be investigated asap at nearest garage to me. After 15 mins on hold was told only their 5 service centres across the UK can deal with car issues with earliest date for inspection in March ! Said I’m not happy with that given what sales team advised or driving car. Told an amber warning light only advisory so to drive with caution and call back when light goes red.

I’m not happy to do this, drive the car or with the after care experience (a sign of further stresses to come) so want a refund and to return the car asap.

Please can you advise what I need to do today to get this done.

      Many thanks

    • We have finally managed to obtain the transcript of this case.

The judge's reasoning is very useful and will certainly be helpful in any other cases relating to third-party rights where the customer has contracted with the courier company by using a broker.
This is generally speaking the problem with using PackLink who are domiciled in Spain and very conveniently out of reach of the British justice system.

Frankly I don't think that is any accident.

One of the points that the judge made was that the customers contract with the broker specifically refers to the courier – and it is clear that the courier knows that they are acting for a third party. There is no need to name the third party. They just have to be recognisably part of a class of person – such as a sender or a recipient of the parcel.

Please note that a recent case against UPS failed on exactly the same issue with the judge held that the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 did not apply.

We will be getting that transcript very soon. We will look at it and we will understand how the judge made such catastrophic mistakes. It was a very poor judgement.
We will be recommending that people do include this adverse judgement in their bundle so that when they go to county court the judge will see both sides and see the arguments against this adverse judgement.
Also, we will be to demonstrate to the judge that we are fair-minded and that we don't mind bringing everything to the attention of the judge even if it is against our own interests.
      This is good ethical practice.

It would be very nice if the parcel delivery companies – including EVRi – practised this kind of thing as well.

CAG is mainly a site discussing legal issues around suppliers of services, banks and debt collection issues, this is the area that people chill out discussing other topics, but your posts don't go towards your post count. I'll flag it up for a moderator/site team to have a look at. I belive they can allow you to post pictures.

Hm..I noticed something strange regarding the timer on the HC.

It doesn't seem to start before being put over the 5 min mark. Then the ticking noise starts.

If I put it on let's say 3 or 4 mins, only the power light comes on but the timer then seems to be stuck and doesn't have the ticking sound and it doesn't move backwards. Did anyone else notice that? Is it broken or is that a normal thing?

If I put it on let's say 10 mins, the ticking sound starts and the timer moves backwards until finished with a bell sound.

But then again the timer in the off position is not pointing exactly at 0, but more towards 1. I am not being picky, but I need it to work. If it seems to be an error, I will send it back for a replacement. Thanks so much for your help.

Cheers Stef

Hello

this is what the seller replied: "It is a normal thing for the timer stop ticking not under 5 mins because 99% of foods must cook over longer than that time. it is designed like this just like other oven."

Can you guys please check if your ovens do the same as mine? Thanks so much for your help.

Cheers, Stef

stefanie mine ticks until it goes off....

Hi. Yes, mine ticks, too..but

It doesn't seem to start before being put over the 5 min mark.

Then the ticking noise starts.

If I put it on let's say 3 or 4 mins, only the power light comes on

but the timer then seems to be stuck and doesn't have the

ticking sound and it doesn't move backwards.

If I put it on let's say 7 mins, the ticking sound starts and the

timer moves backwards until finished with a bell sound.

The seller tells me it is normal like that. Can you run a test for me, please? When you put yours to let's say 4 mins, does it tick and the timer moves to 0?

Thanks.

Cheers

Stef

Problem:

I bought my Mrs one of these Halogen ovens for Xmas, seems okay but no instructions on how to cook the basics (frozen sausages and alike). Even bought halogen recipe books, waste of money as even they don't explain the basics, lastly, it's a 'Team' product and supposedly their site is teamuki.com - no such site and their support email [email protected] = dead email, not impressed.

Any advice on how to cook basics? My idea is it's not worth £50 when there's no way of knowing how to use it.

We (Me, Kiptower and bookie) have set up a Halogen Oven basics forum, if anyone reading this thread could add their tips and tricks it would be much appreciated. ;-)

Maybe that will help? That site is nothing to do with CAG, it is however run by some members who have a lot of respect on this forum :)

just read the posts and maybe some of the basics are covered....if not do ask people they will help if you ask the questions......i myself do not cook from frozen thats my choice but the sausages i put on bottom rack from defrosted or defrost in halogen then on 175 0C for 10 mins then 200 0C for another 10 mins then rest ........i do most at 175 but when cooking other stuff i use fan assisted timings on the boxes - 10% but you could always add more mins but cannot takeaway mins ....alot is trial and error and to taste .....bacon the same bottom rack 15mins 175 0C but add more mins if wanted cooked more........just try but keep an eye on it.....if when satisfied with the results of what you are cooking and timings ........write them down for your information.....we all do not get it right first time. but do ask people .......mine is used everyday.......as i said before i am known as ' won't cook don't cook ' and if i can do it so can you ........people on here will have different ways of cooking with it so they might put different suggestions, so do what ever suits you .........do not give up........

We've had the hinged lid version of Halogen oven for nearly two years and it's fantastic! Can't remember where we got it but I know it was mail order. In the short time we've had it, I'm sure that it's probably paid for itself by now - our main fan oven only gets used to do the Christmas family bird and other large jobs. The 1.4Kw Halogen does everything else pefectly and, because of a much shorter start-up, in considerably less time than the 3.0Kw fan oven does. It's also virtually self-cleaning. When the food is all cooked, a couple of drops of washing up liquid and a jugful of hot water left to swirl for 10 minutes on the timer gets everything loosened up and simple to finish in the sink with the rest of the washing up. No more sticky, burnt trays or oven panels or doors to dismantle and end up scrubbing with Brillo! We've got the extender ring which is not only useful for larger jobs but allows the toasting of crumpets, hot X buns, croque monsieurs and Welsh rarebit without the edges getting all blackened to charcoal (unless wanted for flavour reasons like bacon rind) under the grill or in the toaster (yes, with a JML Toastabag for the runny items). Our kitchen is just 10'x8' with very limited work surface space, and the Halogen Oven is the only gadget that we've allowed a permanent place of its own. I can't reccommend it more highly. Remidog.

Hi everyone i am a newbie to this site, but i have read all the posts on here and found them all very useful, thanks to you all. We have had our HO since christmas and up until 2 weeks ago had only ever used it to cook bacon, but we tried a joint of pork and a chicken in it and they turned out lovely. And after reading all of your posts and seeing all of your yummy food i am definately going to start using ours to cook more interesting food than bacon. Thanks again

I have a Creda hob with Solarglo rings but I am frustrated by the way that the heat cycles on and off in use. I want continuous control of the heat (like with a lighting dimmer switch), but the way my hob controls work is out of the dark ages. Is there a solution? Are some makes better than others? My wife wants me to do more of the cooking but if that's to happen I want a hob that works as I want!
