  1. Hi. Yes, mine ticks, too..but It doesn't seem to start before being put over the 5 min mark. Then the ticking noise starts. If I put it on let's say 3 or 4 mins, only the power light comes on but the timer then seems to be stuck and doesn't have the ticking sound and it doesn't move backwards. If I put it on let's say 7 mins, the ticking sound starts and the timer moves backwards until finished with a bell sound. The seller tells me it is normal like that. Can you run a test for me, please? When you put yours to let's say 4 mins, does it tick and the timer moves to 0? Thanks. Cheers Stef
  2. Hello this is what the seller replied: "It is a normal thing for the timer stop ticking not under 5 mins because 99% of foods must cook over longer than that time. it is designed like this just like other oven." Can you guys please check if your ovens do the same as mine? Thanks so much for your help. Cheers, Stef
  3. Hi. Thanks so much for your post. i will check it with the seller then. Lol, those plates were in my flat when I moved in 8 years ago...they still do the trick
  4. Hiya. Here is my result for today's meal: Chicken legs and filled mushrooms. Turned out lovely. Yum Yum Yay. Uploading pics works. Thank you guys
  5. Hm..I noticed something strange regarding the timer on the HC. It doesn't seem to start before being put over the 5 min mark. Then the ticking noise starts. If I put it on let's say 3 or 4 mins, only the power light comes on but the timer then seems to be stuck and doesn't have the ticking sound and it doesn't move backwards. Did anyone else notice that? Is it broken or is that a normal thing? If I put it on let's say 10 mins, the ticking sound starts and the timer moves backwards until finished with a bell sound. But then again the timer in the off position is not pointing exactly at 0, but more towards 1. I am not being picky, but I need it to work. If it seems to be an error, I will send it back for a replacement. Thanks so much for your help. Cheers Stef
  6. Hi guys. Thanks so much for your help. I will try and post pics later once I cooked my chicken. Thanks again. Cheers Stef
  7. Hi Locutus. Thanks for posting my ix. I have no idea, how to get 20 posts. My count always stays on 0 for some reason...I cannot post links or pictures. Too bad as I really would like to add more photos of my cooking experiences. Today I will try to make marinated chicken cubes and also bake some rolls. Wish me luck. Thaaanks
  8. Finished. Tastes yummy. I cannot post pix unfortunately...admin says naaaah. @locutus: resistance is futile ;-) let me try it like this... i51.tinypic.com/2isfk0k.jpg i55.tinypic.com/x2jgn9.jpg i54.tinypic.com/11i06sy.jpg
  9. I will...oooooh it smells lovely..food looks yummy. It's still cooking.....I am quite amazed actually. Space-wise HC fits as well, so I might keep my microwave. I guess I will get into the cooking habit now ;-)
  10. Hi. I bought the one I found on ebay. Just received it and will now put it to the test. 1st dish: Moroccan style tagine with chicken tigh and couscous and veggies from M&S dine in for 2. It says on the packaging preheat oven to 180 (fan)/220 C. I preheated the HC to 200 (golden middle). gently cover Tagine with aluminium foil and cook for 25 mins. i try 20 mins and see what happens. Then take foil off, stir and cook for further 20 mins. i will try 15 mins. Wish me luck.....
  11. Hi. I found something on ebay and need your opinion, please. There is a seller who has a halogen oven 12L incl. all accessories for 39.99GBP incl shipping. That sounds good..but is it too good to be true? This is the one: NEW ARRIVAL 12L Halogen Oven Cooker +£75 14PCS GIFT+DHL, item no: 150499682748 What do you think? To buy or not to buy, that is the question Thanks so much for your help. Cheers Stef
  12. 12 L Wolf Halogen Oven incl. accessories for 39.99£ That seems like a good offer. Shipping next day within the UK is 6.99£ What do you think? PS: On JML the currently show the HC...ouff 69.99£...wooow.
  13. oh yummy, chicken..yes please. I am watching the jml channel and they also introduce this multi cooker superchef. what is better? halogen or superchef? to me it seems like the halogen seems to have more variety and i can see what is cooking. what do you think?
  14. true. I will definitely get a HC. Am just checking prices etc. Does the brand really matter? I read a review from daily mail where they tested 6 different HCs, and the results were different. Which brands would you consider good, and which ones are to avoid?
  15. LOL...I live on limited space. there is no putting away...there is only keeping or getting rid of it. Lol. Hm..I thought I could reheat things with the HC? Yup..kettle is available. LoL
  16. grmpf..my post ended up on the thread twice....1.37..my brain goes on autopilot. LOL
  17. That could work. I could get rid of my microwave oven and my 2-hob portable stove, which I won't be needing anymore..I guess. Just a stupid question, but is it possible to put a cup of coffee inside the bowl and reheat it for a couple of seconds like I do in the microwave? Sorry about all those questions, but I really want to be sure that a HC is the item for me to get. I need to check usability and space. Taaa again
  18. That could work. I need to try it out. i could get rid of my microwave oven which takes up a lot of space, and also my 2-hob portable stove. I won't be needing those anymore I guess. Hey, is it possible to reheat a cup of coffee in this HC? Maybe a stupid question, but I was just wondering if I could just put a cup inside the bowl and reheat for a few seconds...like I do in the microwave.
  19. Hmmmm. I really like the HC on Sarah's site. They even have replacement bulbs... Does anyone know what the measurements of a 12L oven is? Just an estimate would be helpful. I am on limited space... Taa very much. Cheers, Stef
  20. Hi thanks so much for your replies. Yup, I already read the 19 pages...and yummyyyyyyyy. Me hungry now. I had a look at Sarah's site. The cooker seems good. Does it really matter which brand it is? I always find reviews of JML and Flavorwave cookers. Ideally I would like to go in a shop and get a cooker. Also I am on a limited budget. Are there any cheaper ones that do the trick? is a maximum of GBP 40,- incl. shipping a realistic budget? Thanks again. As soon as I have my cooker I will upload pix of my cooking disasters. lol Cheers Stef
  21. Allo Allo First of all, I love this thread. I found this forum via google and after reading this thread, I made up my mind. I want a halogen cooker I only live in a small studio flat, and have a microwave oven, which I only use to reheat food (take away menus (lol) and coffee and bake the odd roll for brekkie in it. I cook the odd meal every once in a while, but due to lack of space it just gets on my nerves...and cleaning the microwave is a task of its own. So I saw a Prolectrix HC in a shop a couple of weeks ago and thought it would be a great idea to get one of those one day. I read a few reviews on HC cookers, but there are so many brands out there and I am confused to pick the best one. Which HC would you all suggest and why? I am a single person, so I don't know if I should go for the 12l or a smaller one. Thanks by the way for posting the cookbooks. They will help me to get an idea on what to cook, which is always difficult to decide on.... Thanks again for your help. Cheers Stef
