Mentioned a while back that we're getting a dog. We're not now. :( We looked at another dog and one of ours seems to be too over protective of our other dog.

Pity really, because the dog we saw today and Monday (she had surgery on Tuesday; so couldn't take ours too and one of ours has a poorly tummy) is lovely.

(only in here because I'd first mentioned the dog stuff in here - not happy about this at all)

if they log in, they're alive and have something to smile about :) The dead don't whinge about being dead. Smile because you're alive.

Smile because you can breathe and live, have a healthy set of lungs.

Smile because breakfast was yummy

Smile because your neighbour started up his mower, and it conked out.

Smile because your food processor broke downand you have an excuse to get the new one you wanted

Smile because its raining? yep, coz your garden got watered (if you dont have a garden, then the pars and allotments just did)

Smile because you had breakfast this morning (some don't)

Smile because you did something silly that someone didnt see and you needed to giggle over it

Smile because a friend said something that amused you

Smile because, erm you're the only primate that can :)

last of all and my favourite: smiling burns 4 kcal's . Free weightloss is always a bargain :0

Just to add, I learnt this trait from a CBT professional (cognitive behavioural therapist). Every day write down someting good in life, or something you're thankful for... read over it every TIME (from cover to cover) and things will kick in :)

I was smiling yesterday because my daughter returned from a school activity holiday in one piece. When you are young you have absolutely no idea of danger or the things than can go wrong even in the safest of circumstances, especially when you are 50' in the air :!: and I know coach travel is supposed to be safe, so why are the crashes so awful?

Every time they updated the blog it was a relief to see that she was either there and smiling - or that the air ambulance or some paramedics couldn't be seen in the background!

So giving her a welcome hug had me grinning for the rest of the day. :-D

And, adridude I really appreciated your list of things to smile about too. :-)

I smiled when I got to the reduced section at tesco just as everything had been reduced by about 75%. The freezer is fuller than it's been in a while now. :-)

Also just chatted on fb to a friend who recently had a baby. She had a tough time but improving now.

Great attitude adridude. Your post made me smile too. :-)

@caro: the timing for reductions is as follows (for trseco and sainsburys)

Tesco:

1500: 25% off

1700: 50% off

1900: 75% off

Sainsburys:

1500: 20% off

1900: 25% off

2000 90% off

:) Its weird tho how usually the unhealthy food n(pizzas etc...) get priced down and the healthy options don't!

Years ago the Sainsbury's at Cobham didn't open on Sundays and a friend of mine went there at about 7 pm on Saturdays and stocked their freezer with joints of wonderful meat which they were almost giving away. Sadly they are now open seven days a week!

I didn't realize they had set times for reductions, but I'm not usually shopping that late due to homework and bedtime. :-(

The best bargain I had last year was 12lbs of cherry tomatoes for £1.50 just before Christmas from the market - it was pouring with rain and most of the stalls had shut early. They were absolutely delicious too, and were fine for three weeks in the fridge before the remaining ones needed freezing.

Thanks adridude.

I find Saturday and Sunday are good days for reductions at tesco as they close at 10 pm on Saturday and only open 10 till 4 on a Sunday so not long to sell things with a Sunday sell by date.

I find really good meat reduced at sainsburys. Quite often its the more expensive stuff that's left over. Got 2 big fresh turkey crowns just before Xmas for under a fiver each instead of about £25.

We've only just got a morrisons SG but I have been to other stores and got reduced items there too so probably worth trying. Sometimes you can find nothing worth having bit others you can get lots if you have a freezer with space in it or can use fairly quickly.

Glad your dog is better, Bobcat. :-)

What just made me laugh is my elderly cat suddenly miaowing to go into the garden. I opened the door and she went charging down the garden at the two pigeons on the bird table. I hadn't realized she'd been watching them. She's in her late teens so I'm pleased to see she is still watching and interested in what's going on. Needless to say, she wouldn't have a hope of catching a pigeon. :-) They usually just ignore the cats. :-)
