OK, I'll keep it brief after this, but just thought I would give a detailed description of how I came to be here!

At the begining of June I paid in a cheque for £400 to Halifax, when I went to draw on it, I found I had nothing left!..In panic, I phoned them to find out what was going on......I thought I was in the clear with them.

BUT....a few months prior to this, I had gone overdrawn by £100.09, which is 9p over my overdraft limit. They charged me £28 for unauthorised overdraft and £30 for allowing transaction to proceed....

Of course I didn't realise this, so the following month, used my card about 3 times for little things..(never got any cash) but went over as this £58 had been swiped,...another £28 and £90 charges...

Again the following month, total of £178 charges.. each adding up..

THEN THE NEXT MONTH...

You have all seen the pattern,

When I realised, I phoned to plead..."this is all over 9p, this can't be fair"

to get the snotty reply of "Well if you were more careful with your money.....blah, blah,, and can you possibly pay in this £400 in the next day?"

(I'm sorry my money printing machine is out of order at the moment!!)

I don't know why they don't just have an answering machine saying "weve got all your money....nah ne nah nah nah you've got none!!!

Put the phone down and ended up in a heap of tears, this was my day to day food and petrol account that keeps us going until pay day while the HSBC is always in the red....

Anyway, a really close family all came rushing in, all trying to tell me that they were sure that they owed me lots of money or here, I have this spare...pay me back when your rich and famous........(I love them to bits!)

My partner, spent a little time on the internet....he found this site and gave me a choice....

Either I followed the advice here and started getting even with the banks

or

he was going to go and shove the next letter 'somewhere damp and dark' in the snotty little brat who sent it!

hmmm...it was a hard choice...but I didn't want my partner to get into trouble!

I spent 3 days solid, just reading on this site....it was like someone had injected me with fire!...I have been hiding bank statements, cried too many times over the last few years...

Well No More Tears! I am now feeling so empowered! I have told nearly everyone at work (and its a big place!) helping a few friends to write thier letters too..

Request for statements sent recorded on the 10th June....

They have acknowledged request ....waiting....

HSBC have acknowledged request but sent back postal order...

Still waiting for both lots of statements.. tick tock tick tock

Believe me this site IS THE HELP I NEEDED....

I'm just dying to see how much they owe me...Halifax will probably be less than £1000 but I think HSBC will likely be well over the £5000!!

Just an update...

I phoned today to see why I hadn't had my statements yet,

They said that they had no record of my request.!!

I reminded them that ......

1. I have proof of postage,

2. I have proof of reciept,

3. I have an acknowledgement letter from themselves..

4. They had been paid for this (So don't try charging me again!)

5. And that they are supposed to follow the DPA guidelines!

Apparently my statements will be in the post this evening.....

hmmmm.. we will see....

Not that the grief is worth it but look at it this way....6 years worth of charges with 8% interest isn't that bad a savings plan eh? :D

I issued 2-3 weeks back so just waiting to see what happens. Knowing my luck I'll be the first to end up in court.
