  1. Been with them for about 10 years now and am more than happy with the way that they have dealt with any questions we have had including the excellant way in which they have dealt with claims. Phoned up just a few days ago to cancel the legal cover on my wife's insurance and the agent carried out the request efficiently and politely. I couldn't ask for more.
  2. HI ALL, Hi all, This morning I was traveling on the overground to go back home (only 4 stops), my oyster card had only £1.50 when I touched in (as I saw it on the screen), when i got to my stop I was intercepted by a bunch on revenue protection officers and they asked me to show my oyster card which I did and one of them told me to wait because there was something wrong. He explained me that the minimum to travel was £1.60 and I told them I didn't know I thought I was £1.50, He didn't want to listen my explanation and He kept saying that the fares has changed for 2013, I tried to explained him lots of times that I wasn't awared of all the changes and that it was only 10p, no matter what I said they treated me like a criminal and I felt humiliated. After all that he decided to give me a penalty fare and aked me to pay £5 at that very moment which I paid, then he started asking me my details, I was very angry at that moment that I stupidly decided to give him a fake address (I thought i was a good idea) I gave him my student card where He took my name and I also gave him a fake date of birth as my frustration and anger made me do it. After reading forums and comments it seems that the most reasonable thing to do is to pay it once you get a penalty fare. I am actually going back to my country in two week, so I don't know if it is worth it to pay or not . I have plans of coming to finish my studies later this year, so i'm afraid that my visa application gets refused because of this little detail. I am willing to pay the remaining £35 and feel stupid for giving fake details reason why I am very worried of being persecuted for it and even worse getting my visa application refused. if anyone can give me some comments I would appreciate it a lot. Bayke
  3. Hello All, I am looking to find out my legal situation, and my options. I am over 65, with little income and (I'm guessing) a poor credit rating. I have an interest only mortgage which is due to mature in a few months, I cannot afford the lump sum payment, so I am in the process of getting the property ready for sale. The property is worth more than 6x the mortgage amount. I have asked the mortgage company for a small extension to allow time to sell, but they are not being very helpful. I have a few questions: Do they have to be reasonable, such as allowing an extension of 6-12 months to allow time to sell? are there any guidelines or anything related to this I can use to get the mortgage company to give me time to sell? (say 6-12 months). Do I have any other options here to buy myself enough time to finish work on the property and market it for a fair price?. I am concerned the mortgage company may try and repossess the property and sell it cheaply, are there any emergency options for loans or re-mortgages that I could get with a poor credit rating, low income and being 65+? (but considering that there is plenty of equity in the property to secure any loan). I know I should of planned ahead, and I understand a lot depends on varying factors, but I'm looking to get a general overview as to my likely options, if I have any. Thanks hereigo
  4. Hi I have been paying off my Barclaycard for over 5 years via an agreement. I recently decided to SAR them in the hope that my charges my clear the remaining balance (£1500). I have received the SAR pack today but they have only gone back to 2004. My account was started in 1995. There are lots of charges on the statements and I know there will be more in the years that are missing. I also found out that I was paying PPI for 11 years! I didnt even know. I will be claiming that back as well but again, how do I know what I paid for the missing years? As I have only received 8 years and 5 of those were in a plan, I have only really got 3 years worth of charges and PPI even though I would have been paying them for 11 years. With interest this could make up to a substancial figure so I am keen to work it out fully. How can I get these statements? Regards
  5. Hi, I signed on a couple of months ago after losing my job through redundancy. Because of the redundancy payment I am only entitled to contributions-based benefits. I get a JSA payment of £71 per week. Last week I was given a job application action plan and I noticed in the blurb that (according to the JobCentre) I do not pay rent or Council Tax. In fact I do live in rented accommodation and I do pay Council Tax. I asked the job advisor to change the statement but I was told it didn't matter and it wasn't changed. Am I entitled to 'contribution-based' housing benefits which would cover my rent (to some extent) and Council Tax? If so can I get it back-dated as it appears to be an error made by the JobCentre? Any advice would be most helpful.
  6. Hiya, I run a pub with a very small car park right next to a busy hospital & I am really confused about my rights on how to stop the hospital visitors from parking in the pub car park, as they take up the few parking spaces meant for my customers. My business is a dying trade & every month I struggle to make ends meet, so I need to be able to keep those spaces clear for my genuine customers. I have notices displayed saying clamping in operation but as I have never actually carried out the threat they have little effect. I am now worried that the new clamping laws will give them an open invitation to completely abuse the use of a free cark park. I am aware the hospital charges an obscene amount to park in the grounds so I understand why people will try to avoid paying & take a risk on parking in my car park but I simply cannot afford to lose any more customers. I am not totally heartless & if someone is polite enough to pop in & ask if it’s ok to park I do allow them to park there for a short time as long as they put a small donation in a local charity box displayed on the bar. It’s the ones that park there all day without asking or attempting to pop into the pub to purchase anything that I need to be able to stop. Please can someone explain what my rights are rights on stopping them from doing this in the future?
  7. hi all, first post so be gental. ok parked outside my local wilkinson`s the other day to get some paint for a diy job, it was in a "loading only" bay where i normaly park when i`m popping in to pick somthing up quick, been parking there for years with not a problem. was in the shop for about 10 min`s, when i came out found a ticket on my car for “Parked in a loading place during restricted hours without loading” . the ticket states that the car was observed parked there at 12:10 and the ticket was issued at 12:15. there is a sign stating loading only, but the road markings are suposed to say "loading only" according to this: http://keycases.parkingandtrafficappeals.gov.uk/docs/LOADADJ.pdf have been worn away. thay have rejected my informal challenge, and if i appeal i have to pay the full fine if i lose. Qestion is, is it worth appealing? (sorry having trouble uploding pic`s, keeps saying "not a valid image file")
  8. Guys, Just wanted to make people aware of this... My current three contract is due to expire in the next 30days..Ive already bought a new phone on payg - samsung galaxy s3 and signed up for a 12 month sim only deal also with three. I signed up for the new sim (£12.90 pm, 600mins, 1Gb data, 2000 free to three calls , 5000 sms) contract in-store, I thought was a bargain at the time!!. Anyway about 4 days later I received a call from three customer service offering me a deal if I extend my current contract. I told her I wasn't interested but still offered me a deal..a free samsung galaxy ace with same deal as before but unlimited data for £11 per month..I said ill take the offer however I just need to cancel the 12month deal I just took out. She said she could do that no problems..but about 5mins later said she could because I signed upto the sim contract in store (a big no no). If I had done it via website or phone call I can cancel due to 14 day grace period and distance sellers regs.. but because I purchased in-store I couldn't cancel!! Anyway I soon learnt if i ring customer services back and complain I'm not getting a decent signal I can cancel So I told them I work at the postcode of my gym (I don't !!) - where noooobody on any network gets a signal..they ran a quick test to confirm. He said if they cant resolve the issue in the next 5 days I can cancel the contract at no charge to myself due to the coverage policy!! Anyway im on day 2 of waiting so will let you guys know how i get on Main point - Buy a contract over the phone or internet - As you then get 14days grace and alot more leeway hope this helps somebody

  10. I had a visit from the bailiff today, so I texted him back. A bit of background I have 3 liability orders against my property. one in my gf's name one in mine where they have rejected my benefit claim from way back when one for last year / this year where I couldn't afford to pay - I am paying this one now, to the tune of £135 per month and once that is paid up (before April next year) this years will be satisfied. I now have a job and am doing my best to pay it, but the three amount to over £400 when totalled up - with 3 kids in the house and a girlfriend that doesn't work I can never afford that. Anyway, I texted the bailiff back (its Cardiff Council) and he said "I WORK FOR COUNCIL YOU NEED TO DEAL WITH ME DIRECT" What should my next step be?
  11. Hi all, I sent Santander a secure message via my online banking saying "I am contacting you today to have you action the cancellation of ALL continous payment authorities on my account. For the avoidance of doubt, Direct Debits are to remain unaffected" I received this reply I have spoken to them on the phone and been told no, has to be a written request. So I sent a reply stating that as already demanded I expect confirmation that all CPA's are now ceased. I got this in reply, What is the deal here ? I could go too branch, but taking extra ID ! What planet are these goons living on !! From what I have read about CPA's, once a bank has been told to cancel them in writing they must do that. I have contacted them by a means of writing, afterall the year is 2012 ! and as you can see they outright refuse. Thanks in advance for replies.
