Hi, wonder if anyone can help?

Basically, I used to have a Littlewoods catalogue. Had some money problems and have been paying this off. Trouble is because I have not been able to pay regularly, they keep adding admin fees. They say I owe £105 but I worked out that less the admin fees it was only £40. I wrote and asked if they would accept £40 in full and final settlement but today have had a reply which says:-

"On checking I find the full and final settlement is £105.05. The administration is charged according to your terms and conditions of your account stipulated in the back of your catalogue. As the account has been in arrears these charges are correct."

Can I argue this with them? I do want to get this debt paid but I am reluctant to pay so much in admin charges. What should I do?

I sent them the letter template as held in the templates section. Just a little editing and it has worked so far, just recieved letter from solicitors acknowledging receipt etc...

Pay them off the £40 debt if you can. After that, it's all admin charges, and there can be no confusion about it when it comes to claiming, or if they try to default you, or charge interest, or whatever else they can think of throwing at you.

Sorry to but into your thread, but I am about to pursue a similar claim against Littlewoods too. The other week, I had a slanging match with some Scouse witch over the phone who tried to claim the Administration Charges were legal after I mentioned the OFT ruling. However it is going to be fun when I put in the letter. The charges they have taken from me amount to more than what I owe them at present. He He

Gift vouchers in my book are a con, as they havent paid you anything out of their own pocket, they are essentially, in real terms, paying you nothing. I have found that it is possible to get the charges back from a catalogue, albeit the long way!
