Hi

I signed up to a course through training room over the phone in which i paid a £200 registration fee as they called it. Normal term would be deposit.

At no point within the call was i told it was non refundable or non refundable if the course was cancelled after 7 days.

After receiving my loan agreement for the payment of the course i decided not to go ahead with the course or finance plan therefore did not sign any form of agreement leaving me not liable what so ever.

I requested a refund of my deposit to which i received an email stating that as it was after 7 days since i paid the fee they would not be issuing me a refund. Apparently as stated in their T&C's.

After looking over their T&C's no where does it state anything about a 7 day period and regardless of that i did not sign the agreement or start the course therefore am not bound by anything to do with it.

Would be grateful if anyone could advise me of what steps to take.

Thanks

How did you pay for it? Can you post up a copy of the terms so we can check them?

Any advice i give is my own and is based solely on personal experience. If in any doubt about a situation , please contact a certified legal representative or debt counsellor..

If my advice helps you, click the star icon at the bottom of my post and feel free to say thanks

It was paid for by credit card.

It will be Monday before i would be able to post the T&c's! I have been over and over and it says nothing about the 7 days they claim to not offer me a refund under.

As said before though i did not sign any agreement or start the course so i do not see how i am bound by any terms at all.

Thanks

7. Upon acceptance into the academy the registration fee of £200 becomes immediately payable.

8. Upon payment of the registration fee of £200, you will be registered with the academy and provided with immediate access to the members’ area of the training room’s web-site which contains all relevant l earning materials, together with a course guide and uniform ordering form.

9. The registration fee is non refundable as the services provided in consideration of the registration fee w ill have been provided before any otherwise applicable cancellation period.

It says not refundable.

Even when these services they claim to provide are not provided they can keep £200 of somones money? I did not undertake the course, was not provided with anything that warrants them keeping the £200 neither did i sign any agreement. I registered by phine on the 2nd April at which no point was i told the deposit was not refundable then cancelled by phone on the 5th so i do not see on what grounds they are refusing to give me my money back.

In that case send them a demand for the return by recorded delivery stating that it does not reflect the actual cost and ask for a breakdown of the figure and why they think they are entitled to keep it. You could site utccr as well.
