hi PW

bailiffs will not be calling

where did you get that from

bailiffs ONLY ever get involved

AFTER its been to court

after you get a CCJ and fail to pay it.

a VERY VERY long way off

if you are referring to DCA's

and their threat-o-grams..

a DCA is NOT A BAILIFF

and have NO SUCH LEGAL POWERS.

tell us about this debt.

how did it happen, exceeded a talk plan?

dx

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

Thank you dx100

My daughter wanted a contract phone so I alowed here to have one on my account and she would pay me £10 a month .

I asked Orange if they could place a cap on the phon so she would not exceed the bill and they refused saying that orange no longer provided the service . That was last month and Tuesday I received a letter from my bank stating that I had become overdrawn ! I went to the bank to talk to the staff and they informed me that orange had billed me for £400 .

I talked to customer service and they said she had exceeded her plan by 1000 minutes and that I had to pay the full amount .

Please help as I have no money ( not that kind of money)

Thanks in advance

How long have you had the contract for?

Do you get paper bills or online bills?

If online I would expect an email saying that the bill is available and that £400 will be taken on xxxx (giving a few weeks notice) - did that happen?

Is that a full months bill or an interim bill because your daughter had used so much?

If the latter it shows that they will apply limits to protect themselves but not to protect their customers

1000 minutes is about 30 minutes per day for a month

Helo Grumpy

Usually i get a text message stating how much my bil is but this time I did not receive anything ( unles it was sent to my orange e-mail address but I cannot axcess that because I have forgoten my user name and password .

It is for a full month

Personaly I have been with orange for 9 years , having said that this is a second phone on my bill started last month .

No paper bills so I presume that the info was sent to me online

Thank you

Is her phone an extension of your contract or a new contract of her own with the payment coming out of your bank account? If the first you should have received notification as usual, if the second then the notification would have gone to her phone and you'd only know about it when the payment came out of the bank - which is what you've discovered!!

Hello Feebee

The phone is a new contract with payment coming out of my bank account .

That will be why you didn't receive notification of the amount due - the message will have gone to the phone number the payment is about..

Short of asking orange to split the payment over a few months and confiscating your daughter's phone I don't think there is much you can do. I would also look into other phone providers to see if any of them offer a contract where you can bar calls, texts and other usage outside the monthly allowances and take the hit of paying for that as well as the £10/month for the orange sim.
