IMHO, I would not respond to their request. They should obtain any information from "their client"

I have today received a letter from CapQuest as follows:

"Further to your recent correspondence and in order to process your communication further, we would request you provide the following information by 19th August to assist us in resolving this matter: Details of residence at time this account was opened: 30/04/1999. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated. Please note that this is not a demand but a request."

Surely they would already have this information? x

Do not contract with them at this stage, they have the necessary info or can go to the O.C. = chancers.

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

Sorry to sound thick but what is this and how do I do it?

Thank you to everyone who has replied so far.

I was a bit bewildered as to why they would be asking me for information that I would presume they already had.

I am not going to respond to their letter.

I am possibly moving house sometime in September too,

should I let them know my new address when I've moved? x

worth using noddle (callcredit) free

https://www.noddle.co.uk/

and if you want to check all 3 CRAs a £2 statutory credit report off the other 2 listed below.

Experian

http://www.experian.co.uk/consumer/s...ry-report.html

Equifax

http://www.equifax.co.uk/Products/cr...ry-report.html

I have found different info on all 3 of mine so for me worth looking at all 3

If i help feel free to click star on my post. cheers

you can select to download it as a PDF too -. noddle only lets you see updated version if you dont log in for 30 days i think, so download your file as PDF and dont log back in as doing so resets the 30 days i think....

you can dispute any entries you dont recognise with them and get those removed and while you are at it make sure ALL your details are correct, even down to spelling of street names and post codes etc.

If i help feel free to click star on my post. cheers

CapQuest is on there as Default

and so is my catalogue

but I have spoken with the catalogue and I am paying that off, it's not much,

I just missed a payment because my hours had been reduced in work

and my wages weren't so good that month.

They are the only two x

Yes I've had £12 penalty charges and will continue to get them if I don't make the payments on time. How do I reclaim them and if I reclaim them will it mean I can't use the catalogue again once my account is up to date?

what does it say about the crapest debt please?

This is what it says about CapQuest:

Name **********

Address ******************* (this was my previous previous address)

Date of birth **/**/****

Account type Bank

Account number *******

Account start date 30/04/1999

Opening balance £ 1,523

Repayment frequency Monthly

Date of default 10/11/2007

Default balance £ 1,523

It says the was DEFAULT going back to December 2009 right up to date. There's no other information in this section on CapQuest x

reclaiming is easy

i'd start a new thread in the mail order cat forum

and no they wont close the account

as for crapest

so the debt was defaulted in 11/07 so that would have been the oc that did that

and have brought the debt

so their name now shows against it.

Thank you dx100uk, I'll start the thread in the catalogue forum.

As for CapQuest,

what should I do now in regards to the letter they have sent me?

Why do you think they are asking me for that information? x

I'd ignore it. They are trying one last attempt to get it before its statute barred. Remember, you need to think why nobody has been chasing it up for the last few years, and why it has a lot of charges on it.

Any advice i give is my own and is based solely on personal experience. If in any doubt about a situation , please contact a certified legal representative or debt counsellor..

Yep. Exactly what gust said. If they cannot prove it, then they cant send you anything else. Especially demanding info on where you used to live, so they can try and invent fictitious info.

Wow I can't believe they are allowed to be so underhand about things :(

I also cannot remember where I was living in 1999,

I would have to ask friends or family (for those who don't want to read over the whole thread,

I had a brain haemorrhage in Sept 2007 and my long term memory is fried,

my short term memory isn't far behind it either!).

I shall not respond to the letter and see what (if anything) they come back with next.

Should I inform them when I have moved house of my new address or just ignore them completely?

I will keep you updated on any further correspondence from them.

Thank you everyone for all your help and advice and guidance on this.

It was really stressing me out (my migraines have come back with a vengence recently)

but following the advice given on this website has made the process so much easier to deal with.

Thank you all :) xx
