OK, my insurance company or at least the comany they use for collecting payments (premium credit) have a policy where if they try and take payment and they can't do it they charge a penalty of 20 quid. I suspect mine may have bounced, I will find out tomorrow. Are companys allowed to charge extra? It doesn't sit right in my mind. Lloyds won't charge me, so why should they!

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

They have done it to me twice before and I paid it. But still. If this happens now can you give me some advice on what to do? The only thing I am really clued up on is dealing with are dcas. I like to do my own research but if you wouldn't mind pointing me in the right direction on this one :-)

The Office of Fair Trading (OFT) issued a directive to set a point at which they (the OFT) would intervene on behalf of the consumer. They did not state that £12 was lawful - in fact they stated that only a court can decide. "A fair default charge should not exceed a reasonable estimate of certain limited administrative costs which the creditor expects to incur as a result of default"

In other words - reclaim the full amount unless they are willing to show the evidence of what it does cost.

treat it the sa e as say a catalogue company charging you late/over/letter etc

see the mail order forum or any credit card forum.
