Why are the debt collection agencies and debt solicitors continually allowed to bully gym and fitness club and other users?

See the gym thread, for example on this forums site:

HELP!-ARC-Collection-Agency-and-Trevor-Munn-Solicitors-legal-threats-for-LA-Fitness

My own experience is with ARC and Trevor Munn solicitors bullying me to try and pay them hundreds in gym fees after I had cancelled.

Eventually they dropped the case because I defended it. But they are out and out bullies, and they seem untouchable.

Why are they continued to be allowed to practice in business. This isn't part of civilised society. They should be closed down. Why can they continue to bully.

They are quoted time and again on the forums bullying other people too, it's not just me. Heaven knows how many other victims there are out there who have paid up in response to their menaces...

Why can they continue in business????????????

Hey Davehants

I'm currently going through this process with Virgin Active and ARC, but I'm going to refuse payment now that I have a copy of the judgement between the OFT and Ashbourne.

Hi Dave,

We are working hard to help people stand up to the bullying tactics of gyms and/or their admin companies.

The High Court case against Ashbourne Mgt Services Ltd this year brought by the OFT will have significant implications for gym members. The judge, Mr Justice Kitchin, has made it clear that many practices used by the gym admin co's are unfair and can be effectively challenged.

See the links which CB posted above.
