  1. Thank you very much! I suppose it's sensible to write to the gym and offer to pay just in case. However, if I'm safe either way (unless Harlands turn maverick) that's good news
  2. Hello, My story will read as all too familiar to this forum. I've made a mistake and cancelled my direct debit for my Marriott membership without providing 30 days notice. Harlands are now saying the usual I owe them one month's fee as well as a missed direct debit fee. I've seen generally the advice is to offer 1 month's payment fee and provide notice at the same time? My membership is about £100 and so I'd rather not pay that months fee as I won't use it. Technically I've broken the T&Cs, is it best I offer to pay the one months fee, or can I get away with ignoring them completely and paying nothing - am I vulnerable to anything if I do this?
  3. Thank you very much for your replies, I really appreciate your expertise and help. Yes, I have been reading the other threads and understand that I need to cite the right of third parties act against DPD. My communication thus far with DPD has been over the phone and over email with Packlink. I will now send a complaint by post to DPD's headquarters. The item was a coffee grinder, worth £150, which I paid for insurance with via Packlink. The item and value was declared correctly. I would like to drag Packlink through the mud but it seems it will be yet another instance where they get away with it. I too am sceptical of their move out of the UK.
  4. Hi all, What a fantastic resource this website has been! I'm looking for some advice. My situation appears very similar to lots of other people's experiences. In brief: I sold something on eBay, paid for fully insured postage on Packlink via DPD. The item then spent about 3 weeks moving around but sitting in a delivery depot for 10 days. I phoned DPD during this time but they refused to discuss it with me stating that I was not the sender, it was Packlink. I then raised a claim with Paclink who would not investigate as it was not within 28 days of my buying the postage - I explained to them that it was not within 28 days because the parcel was still moving and trackable for over 3 weeks and so I didn't know it was lost. They didn't care and said they wouldn;t discuss the matter any further. Obviously if Packlink were in the UK I'd take them to small claims court directly, but as they're not, I suppose the easiest course of action is to take DPD to small claims court, citing right of third parties act? DPD do not have an email address and so is it best I just post them an LBA and then start proceedings? They're arguing they don't have a contract with me, all the usual stuff, but obviously this is all verbal communication and not documented. I'd be very grateful if someone can confirm an LBA is the best thing to do now. Thanks for your help.
