Want to read DCA letter barcodes and datamatrix's???

As we all know, DCA's like to pop a datamatrix or barcode on their letters to us, and when we post the letters on CAG we remove them in case they can trace who posted it.

 

Want to know what info they contain?

 

All you need is a mobile phone that has the Android operating system. Visit the Market where you install new applications and search for an app called.... ixMAT Scanner.

 

Just been trying it with some DLC/Hillesdens letters using an HTC Desire phone. Works perfectly, not found a DCA letter barcode or datamatrix I can't decode yet. And as a few of you know, I have far more than my fair share of DCA letters.

I got N95 too and never managed to get the bar code reader to work either

Ive got an iphone app but it only seems to work on common shop items ie dvds and computers etc.

Just found out of a M8 after all this time that N95 apparently, does not read the standard barcodes (black & white vertical lines) that we're familiar with but rather the DataMatrix type that consists of a grid of square cells,

 

I just tried it on one of Lowells assignment notices that was supposed have come from Barclaycard. What did it show, my Lowells ref number which was not present in the letter, so why would barclaycard know what that was, which is proof enough for me that this NOA has never been near Barclaycards Offices

Nope, it is complete. All DM's have solid edges only on the left and bottom sides.

 

My HTC Desire running the ixMAT Scanner has no probs decoding it from my computer screen.

 

May be worth printing it out, and then the extra wide white border of the paper may help.

Well done. Now go out and use/abuse this new info.

 

As Thailand said to me in a PM. Why not put a datamatrix that says Without Predudice on all letters you don't want them to use in court.

 

Then get out your phone and show the judge how it works, and then show how they use datamatrix tech in the DCA's letters, and that they have no excuse for not knowing what yours says.

i mentioned it a week or so ago to several posters that the barcodes were easy to read from a lot of modern phone's , and edit the documents they posted

All new mobiles can download apps that have barcode/datamatrix scanning facilities. Even the iphone 4 has one. Just don't try to send files via bluetooth, or add music and video without using the itunes software, or using one of the 70% of websites that use Adobe Flash. Also remember to hold it properly so you can get a signal.

Yep, but still peeps still post things with barcodes on them.

 

Hopefullt enough peeps will read this thread and then warn others in future.
