    • How do I 'link' a letter without posting it publicly. Sorry for stupid question.
    • Rather than dsunaks lies, lets look at the reaL Data and real black holes in the UKs budget - all created by the poop Tories   Public sector finances, UK: April 2024   Main points Borrowing – the difference between public sector spending and income – was (a black hole of) £20.5 billion in JUST April 2024, the fourth highest April borrowing since monthly records began in 1993. Borrowing in April 2024 was £1.5 billion more than in April 2023 and £1.2 billion more than the £19.3 billion forecast by the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR). Public sector receipts grew by £1.6 billion compared with April 2023, however, this growth was outstripped by a £3.1 billion increase in spending over the same period. Since our March 2024 publication, we have increased our initial estimate of borrowing in the financial year ending March 2024 by £0.8 billion to £121.4 billion, now £7.3 billion more than the £114.1 billion forecast by the OBR. Public sector net debt excluding public sector banks (debt) at the end of April 2024 was provisionally estimated at 97.9% of gross domestic product (GDP); this was 2.5 percentage points more than at the end of April 2023, and remains at levels last seen in the early 1960s. Excluding the Bank of England, debt was 89.9% of GDP, 8.0 percentage points lower than the wider debt measure. Public sector net worth excluding public sector banks was in deficit by £703.4 billion at the end of April 2024, a £93.5 billion larger deficit than at the end of April 2023.     and the Tory legacy of financial mismanagement  to be passed on :   UK government debt 2023 | Statista WWW.STATISTA.COM Government debt in the United Kingdom reached over 2.25 trillion British pounds in 2022/23, compared with 1.83 trillion pounds in...

    • That's very interesting to hear! I received a notification of a CC verification from Coles in Australia on the 12th May - also a Sunday evening. Not having been to Oz for about 30 years I was somewhat suspicious and so immediately cancelled the card. Guess what, it's the one I use to pay Lyca with........... If you've got any further information I'd be interested in hearing it.

    • Hello,

On 15/1/24 booked appointment with Big Motoring World (BMW) to view a mini on 17/1/24 at 8pm at their Enfield dealership.

Car was dirty and test drive was two circuits of roundabout on entry to the showroom.  Was p/x my car and rushed by sales exec and a manager into buying the mini and a 3yr warranty that night, sale all wrapped up by 10pm.  They strongly advised me taking warranty out on car that age (2017) and confirmed it was honoured at over 500 UK registered garages.

The next day, 18/1/24 noticed amber engine warning light on dashboard , immediately phoned BMW aftercare team to ask for it to be investigated asap at nearest garage to me. After 15 mins on hold was told only their 5 service centres across the UK can deal with car issues with earliest date for inspection in March ! Said I’m not happy with that given what sales team advised or driving car. Told an amber warning light only advisory so to drive with caution and call back when light goes red.

I’m not happy to do this, drive the car or with the after care experience (a sign of further stresses to come) so want a refund and to return the car asap.

Please can you advise what I need to do today to get this done.

      Many thanks

    • We have finally managed to obtain the transcript of this case.

The judge's reasoning is very useful and will certainly be helpful in any other cases relating to third-party rights where the customer has contracted with the courier company by using a broker.
This is generally speaking the problem with using PackLink who are domiciled in Spain and very conveniently out of reach of the British justice system.

Frankly I don't think that is any accident.

One of the points that the judge made was that the customers contract with the broker specifically refers to the courier – and it is clear that the courier knows that they are acting for a third party. There is no need to name the third party. They just have to be recognisably part of a class of person – such as a sender or a recipient of the parcel.

Please note that a recent case against UPS failed on exactly the same issue with the judge held that the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 did not apply.

We will be getting that transcript very soon. We will look at it and we will understand how the judge made such catastrophic mistakes. It was a very poor judgement.
We will be recommending that people do include this adverse judgement in their bundle so that when they go to county court the judge will see both sides and see the arguments against this adverse judgement.
Also, we will be to demonstrate to the judge that we are fair-minded and that we don't mind bringing everything to the attention of the judge even if it is against our own interests.
      This is good ethical practice.

It would be very nice if the parcel delivery companies – including EVRi – practised this kind of thing as well.

Hi To All

Got a letter today from Allied Int Credit Ltd ( re Lloyds )

Basically my OH has a loan with Lloyds and 8 month ago they accepted £50.00 per month instead of the original £200.00 per month.

She then without my knowledge enlisted the help of the Alchemy Org to do a PPI ( previous post's ) I was forever chasing Alc but to no avail as to what was happening, I then received a letter of acceptance from Lloyds saying here is £1900.00 please sign + return the sum will come off your owed balance.

I asked questions of Alc and got zilch, so with the advise from dx and other cagers I sent a letter blah blah, to this day I have had no response from Alch etc and they wont speak to me on the phone, they also advised my oh that she could not do a cca whilst making a ppi claim?.

Now Allied want the full balance of the loan or else...Bailiffs..Assets..Charging orders etc. this has sent my OH spiraling, what is the best way forward on this?

Bye the way I have not ever cca'd Lloyds but want to etc, will this put a halt on what they are threatning ?

Cheers

I would definitely kick these clowns into touch The Alchemy Organisation - PPI Complaints Management

Tell them to sling their hook, services no longer required.

Who ever heard of someone getting a job at the Jobcentre? The unemployed are sent there as penance for their sins, not to help them find work!

I dont know where to start as I have written to Alc but they dont respond and how can I send a letter in dispute when I have never cca'd them?

Can anybody do a letter that I can write to these as I need to respond asap, I feel comfortable that I can deal with this and I am confident to do so with yr help, but it feels like a total mess and I need pointers please.

Just send the CCA request straight to Allied International Credit, if they fail or refuse to provide it send the 'In Dispute' letter & make a complaint to Trading Standards, OFT & the ico.

Hi Cerb

Thanks for that, will be in the post on Saturday. then what shall I do about Alch ?

Yep. OFT and ICO are definites. As for TS, your local one will be more help than the Glasgow one (unless you're a Glasgow resident).

Glasgow Trading Standards WILL attempt to fob you off - I speak from personal experience here, but it's worth complaining to them all the same just to see what they come back with.

why do you need to contact them?

as for the refund, do you know this figure is correct?

how has it beed calculated?

and if you are not in arrears lloyds cannot take it off the 'outstanding balance' they can only take 'arrears' the rest must go to you.

dx

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

Hi Mr W:)

I agree with dx about the PPI refund - from experience their figures are often incorrect and/or they don't give detailed breakdowns of how they reached them. Unless you are absolutely certain the refund offered is correct (including interest) your OH should not sign any acceptance form.

Good Luck with this!
