  • dx100uk changed the title to Council Tax, discount, exemption and eligibility question?

Not sure anyone on an online forum can answer this accurately, as it will be down to local Council fo make a decision, based on their particular Council tax scheme. Don't think there is a 100% standard practice all Councils have to follow.

Contact your local Citizens Advice. The Council won't provide advice, as they will only deal with application for Council Tax reduction based on household details. It is the Council Tax reduction schemes that vary from one Council to another.

We could do with some help from you.

Is the house rented or mortgaged?

Why wouldn't the carer claim any benefits? Seems a little odd?

You still pay CT if you're retired.

As UB says, each local authority is different, some will apply 100% discount for residents who are SMI, others 75%.

Who ever heard of someone getting a job at the Jobcentre? The unemployed are sent there as penance for their sins, not to help them find work!
