Channel 4 has caught up with Vennells, believed to be the first time she's been seen in public for some time.

Can't see why she didn't just lie - lying/deceit/disingenuity seems to NOT have been an issue for her previously - other than trying to get others to take the fall for it perhaps

.. and I've still found nothing that warranted her now removed 'honor' or anything other than connections with 'important people'  that have generated her rise through 'business .. or the church ..

strangely .. That generated dark thoughts of Saville .. although even that monster seemingly did more for charity than Vennells ever did, and probably destroyed fewer lives

Will we have to wait until after the General Election, before there are any proper criminal investigations on those at The Post Office including their legal advisors who were aware of IT system failures, but continued to prosecute in a misleading way ?

If Government Ministers were aware of the IT system problems and related Post Office accounting issues, then i can see the Police not being too quick with any investigations.  This is simply because of the public reaction to the ITV programme and not wanting to create political drama in the run up to the election.

also, as Vennels forfeited her CBE for “bringing the honours system into disrepute” - what about those who forwarded and promoted her for the honor - despite many of the issues already in plain sight?

Vennells, van den Bogen and Susan Crichton are there, politicians, plus Gareth Jenkins who was the main engineer at Fujitsu. He's been allocated four days.

Interesting point here to take into account with all the seeming attempts to deflect the blame onto Davey, or someone/anyone else BUT the people who have been in power for the last decade+

- apparently including Arbuthnot

Former Post Office chief executive Paula Vennells failed to tell MPs about 16 investigated cases where the Horizon computer software had made errors more than a decade ago, the inquiry into the scandal has heard.

Questioned by members of parliament in 2012, Ms Vennells said there had not been a case investigated by authorities where the software was found to be at fault.

But, according to Jason Beer KC, lead counsel to the inquiry, there have been 16 reports of bugs in the software or court cases where workers were found not guilty.

He asked Tory peer and long-standing advocate for victims of the Post Office scandal James Arbuthnot, who was present at the meeting, if Ms Vennells or other managers mentioned these cases, which appeared to show the software was capable of making mistakes.

The former Conservative MP (James Arbuthnot) said she and her colleagues had not mentioned any of them.

 

So -

1. Why would anyone think they didn't lie to MPs before? Inc Davey as he states

2. Why were the PO not questioned more on these claims in the decade following 2012 since it was KNOWN they were false - as Arbuthnot should have known - as his own testimony highlights?

 

Dont get me wrong - I think Maddleson has questions to answer - and primarily every gov interface/ since .. especially since 2012, and most especially since 2015. With likelihood of actual knowledgeable cover up increasing with every year since 2012 IMO.

So, we understand that the bill is likely to be a billion quid - dragged out until its due for taxpayers under the next labour guv - 

and we understand that Fujitsu should pay a large chunk into that

- but what about all the board members paying from their unjustified profits ?

At least half their salary and all their bonuses, plus jail time seems a minimum to me.

They've hired a barrister to 'investigate' and declare read is innocent of all charges - and the board and the guv business interface 'shareholder'  who seem likely (IMO) as guilty as sin have come out of the woodwork (must be crapping themselves) claim they have full faith in this guy who has presided over the biggest scandal and miscarriages of justice in UK history

They did take the time to chide staunton for leaking details of the “speak up document” they wanted to keep hidden

 

seems to me that anyone who gives a shred of credence to this whitewash attempt is beyond stupid.

Post Office scandal expert Moorhead predicts solicitor strike-offs

Richard Moorhead, professor of law and professional ethics at the University of Exeter and a prolific writer on the Horizon scandal, said it was ‘highly likely’ that people would be removed from the profession. He added that he also expects one or two individuals to face criminal prosecutions.

He was ‘cautiously supportive’ of the Solicitors Regulation Authority's position of waiting until the public inquiry has finished before taking any decisions on disciplinary proceedings, saying the regulator has been doing a lot of investigatory work behind the scenes. But Moorhead said the SRA should provide ‘greater clarity and detail’ about what it is doing currently.

She's decided to go with being not bright enough to spot what was happening over Fujitsu altering entries on the Horizon system, rather than covering up important facts. She's there today as well.

Vennells wrote in a meeting note that Crichton 'was possibly more loyal to her professional conduct requirements'

That it seems all about their own interests - says a lot about both Chrichton and Vennels views on 'professional conduct requirements' eh?
