Worth noting that:

 

A previous 'hottest UK temperature' was in August 1911

Forget the heatwaves of the 50's and 70's, This wasn't broken until August 1990

We know that the new hottest ever recorded (day and night) Uk temps were set just a short while ago (2022)

 

 

I predict that this latest hottest UK day record, extreme as it is, will be broken inside 3 years, even given that the gulf stream is slowing reducing the heat energy to the UK , and we will likely be more effected than most by dumping of cold polar air due to the accelerating breakdown of the 'polar barrier' - and not forgetting that more energy in the UK system generally means more clouds and wind - generally averaging day and night temps ...

(I actually doubt the record will last to this time next year - and it may even get 'tested again this year)

 

 

(and no, the updated stats on the projected current solar cycle duration and energy output aren't available yet - and what is available is very mixed - its still 'officially projected to be another extremely low output solar cycle)

seems the water companies are 'potentially' looking at maybe 10's of millions in fines for their DECADES of criminal (IMO) failures and abuses

.. barely a dent in the £Billion quid dividends and boss bonuses they have handed out from profiteering failure in the last year alone.

I think it was the Environment Agency said that top people and not the companies should be fined to focus minds. Or maybe fine both.

If the senior staff were simply fined - the companies hence the taxpayer would pay

It needs immediate claw back of all senior staff share options into the public purse, and ALL bonuses cancelled/clawed back.

 

Then criminal proceedings including MAJOR fines for the companies, cancelling of all dividends and senior staff bonuses until the companies have addressed the issues - including debt and infrastructure

(share price should only suffer relatively temporarily and share holders would then also be driving improvements)

According to the Times, despite promising to be there, Truss doesn't plan to attend the Cop27 conference even though it marks the end of the UK's presidency and the handover to Egypt.

 

I think that speaks volumes.
