applying for a mortgage and

upon checking my credit score,

i find a default from a Vodafone account on my file

- whilst i may have had a PAYG phone some time in the distant past

- the credit score says the account was opened in April 2010,

i definitely didn't use it when it is alleged to have gone into default

How can i get default VODAFONE LTD GEMINI removed from credit report?

It says 2 mised payments in March 2014, defaulted in July 2014 and it says £14 was owed

Communications Supplier from Vodafone Ltd Gemini (I) / XXXXX5419 is the account

Hi

Thanks for the reply

well apparently i opened this account in April 2010 - i well may have done, but if i did, it was PAYG - it remained in good stead until this alleged missed payment

i have found a thread about speaking to ?Lee via their social media and hopefully i'll get an answer - at the moment i'm just going around and around in circles

sounds strange to me for sure.

a payg account cant suddenly go £14OD.

weird.

unless they 've re assigned the numberorf the old phone has been found & used?

but even then its payg, how can it run up a debt.....

well that's good

we did here some months ago that odd accounts like this were in the main going to be ignored with regard to a mortgage.

seems silly a 'gadget' can ruin someones future.

Hi Hugh,

VF need to remove this default irrespective of whether it is your debt or not. Filing a default for £14 does not in any way reflect the true position and you could have been offered different mortgages or credit cards at a higher rate than you normally would have.

Lee has had some success in getting these removed by using a simple technique.... common sense!

A default for £14! Pathetic!

If they refuse to remove, you could sue them or if you are prepared to wait forever, contact the Information Commissioner

I think the phone number maybe 075007038**

Thanks for the reply

yes, it does seem the chaos this caused was disproportionate to the debt - but i'm sure a human was never involved and its all been done by computer.

I just hope this gets sorted, was more than willing just to pay the debt, but that proved impossible as well

  • 3 weeks later...

many many thanks to this forum and to those that replied

i'm very glad to report that Dave and Lee from Vodafone have sorted this all out - i'm not sure of what happened and to be honest don't care - my credit report has been repaired and i am very happy. But it does go to show how such a little "debt" could have a damaging impact and checking your report at least yearly is best practise

Many thanks again

Excellent news. I will mark this thread as resolved however, can you check your report for at least another month as VF have been known to re-add the default. (which has cost them dear in the past)
