I've received a couple of letters from Link Financial over the last two weeks

relating to an un-named debt I don't know anything about.

The latest which arrived this morning I an annual statement which shows I've been making ten pounds

a month payments by card (which I haven't).

There is nothing on my credit file relating to an active account and I'm reluctant to contact them for obvious reasons

You certainly should not be telephoning them that's for sure.

It sounds to me as though they have the wrong person !

You say there is nothing on your credit file ? Unless the letters/ demands become increasingly aggressive, then I would wait until they provide you with some proper details.

Sorry my last post mustn't have been very clear. It's definitely not a current debt. The letters aren't even overtly threatening. They seem to infer I'm on a sixty month payment plan and after interest has been deducted the phantom payment is taking just over a pound off the balance (£3000 ish)

As already said, link will say ANYTHING to get you to pay them. The owner has made tens of millions of pounds on lying, cheating and harassing people on lemon and ficticious debts.

I'll just ignore it and see if anything else turns up. Just noticed on the statement the 'date of first movement' is 1/4/1998 (April fools day ironically) so I can assume pretty safely that even if I did owe somebody some money back then that this too will be statute barred as Link will never be able to prove I've made any repayments despite their false accounting

Just had a phone call from someone from Link asking me to confirm my details, saying it was about a 'personal matter'. They were politely told to go away. I expect further correspondence as a result, I wouldn't care but I normally don't answer unknown callers but i've just upgraded mi iphone to IOS7 today and thought it was playing up.
