Child DLA & Jackals

Hello, all,

 

I'm asking for a good friend who doesn't have internet access.

 

Due to a series of misfortunes (she is a decent person who works hard) my friend got into debt. Her young child is disabled and they have recently been awarded DLA.

 

As the DLA has been awarded for the child, I thought that dcas have no right to make a claim (almost wrote 'clam' - Freudian thinking? ) on the DLA. That she can offer token payments as other than the DLA she is skint.

 

I've also told her that if any of them come knocking not to answer the door, as only the postman and someone asking for directions are allowed on her property.

Yes if she is on benefit then £1 a month is what you tell them you can afford. Theres not much they can do they may ask for an income and expenditure breakdown but they are only entitled to a very basic one if none at all.

 

Even if they took it further a judge would only order her tonpay what she can afford and if thats £1 then £1 it is z

 

And yes correct if they come knocking just ignore or ahut the door and tell them to leave which they have to obide by.

 

You tell them how you want to communicate and you also tell them what your paying but do ensure that the DCA making claims are legally entitled to collect the debt in the first place!

My son receives DLA, he is three years old so its paid to me. As I understand it I am to use the money he gets for him and it is not counted as income as such therefore a DCA would not be entitled to make a claim on it.
