Hi Guys/Gals,

OK long story short, I was in some considerable financial difficulty a year or so ago and now I'm in employment and in the process of sorting out my affairs. On the plus side - I'm debt free (well besides this ofcourse ) on the other hand I'm left with two defaults on my file.

One of those defaults is satisfied (although I'm trying to get it removed, the other is with Vodafone whom I've had no contact with since the original Default date. Now I'm assuming I owe Vodafone a fair amount of money as I've effectively neglected to pay a full 24 month contract.

I'm fortunate enough to be in a very good financial position at the moment and would be able to clear any outstanding arrears with them comfortably.

In any case I'm just wondering what's the best approach - to wait out the six years it takes for a Default to disappear and have no contact with them or to try and bargain with them to remove the default if I agree to pay the contract in full.

I know service providers don't operate in the same way that lenders do, so I'm just wondering if the above approach would work?

If that is the way forward, does anyone have any suggestions or letter templates?

Thanks in Advance,

hi dom

we have voda onboard here

there has been some success with default removals

but you need to be sure you ARE owing this money

not accept that your contract must be paid in full.

esp if there are penalties in the balance.

We thought it would be nice to introduce ourselves and to assure you all that our presence on CAG is with the very best of intentions.

vodafone UK has recently introduced a dedicated Web Relations Team which is keen to seek out customers who’re having difficulties with their accounts and feel that they have no other place to turn to than CAG and other consumer forums and blogs.

Naturally, it’s not possible for us to help directly with account specific queries on CAG and as such we would encourage those members who feel we can help them to contact us privately at [email protected] quoting ‘WRT135 – CAG Forum’ in the subject line.

When emailing us we would also ask that you either provide us with a link to your post or thread – if you’ve posted in another member’s thread please also provide your CAG username so that we can check what your query is.

Many thanks

Thanks,

I just have a quick query - since we spoke on Friday I've had two unrecorded searches on my credit file from a DCA called Lowell Portfolio Ltd, I can only assume it's related to this; according to a few other threads floating around the net Vodafone do deal with them. One search was for my old address and the other for my new address, is it anything to be concerned about? I'm a bit worried that I might have opened a can of worms here. I hope I don't end up with a GAIN entry on my file
