  1. Thanks, I just have a quick query - since we spoke on Friday I've had two unrecorded searches on my credit file from a DCA called Lowell Portfolio Ltd, I can only assume it's related to this; according to a few other threads floating around the net Vodafone do deal with them. One search was for my old address and the other for my new address, is it anything to be concerned about? I'm a bit worried that I might have opened a can of worms here. I hope I don't end up with a GAIN entry on my file
  2. I've had some financial issues over the past few years which has led me to have a pretty abysmal credit file - I've got two defaults on my record along with multiple late payments. On the good side of things I'm not in debt anymore and my credit file reflects the fact I have numerous satisfied accounts. The trouble is when I decided to sort my finances out one aspect of that was closing down all my old bank accounts and starting afresh. Unfortunately because of the state of my credit file my bank (NatWest) would not give me a full current account so I'm stuck with their basic account. I'm not happy about this to say the least because I'm having to pay out £10/month for one of their 'Select Silver' accounts in order to be able to withdraw money from a non NatWest cash machine. Has anyone had any experience appealing such decisions? I mean it's not too much to ask is it - I have been banking with them for over eight years and I do have a very comfortable salary being paid in every month. I've tried talking with them, I've tried writing to them but they just give me the same old scripted response... They won't even advise me on how I might get a full account in the future.
  3. Sorry I'm new to all this - how would I go about that? Thanks @ Lee thanks for looking into it!
  4. Thanks for the quick reply! - I've emailed them with the details of this thread.
  5. Hi Guys/Gals, OK long story short, I was in some considerable financial difficulty a year or so ago and now I'm in employment and in the process of sorting out my affairs. On the plus side - I'm debt free (well besides this ofcourse ) on the other hand I'm left with two defaults on my file. One of those defaults is satisfied (although I'm trying to get it removed, the other is with Vodafone whom I've had no contact with since the original Default date. Now I'm assuming I owe Vodafone a fair amount of money as I've effectively neglected to pay a full 24 month contract. I'm fortunate enough to be in a very good financial position at the moment and would be able to clear any outstanding arrears with them comfortably. In any case I'm just wondering what's the best approach - to wait out the six years it takes for a Default to disappear and have no contact with them or to try and bargain with them to remove the default if I agree to pay the contract in full. I know service providers don't operate in the same way that lenders do, so I'm just wondering if the above approach would work? If that is the way forward, does anyone have any suggestions or letter templates? Thanks in Advance,
