robbersway doorstep card re old 02 debt

Hi guys,

Today I received a visit from a doorstep collector from Robinson Way.

I didn't answer the door because I thought it ws somebody trying to sell me something!

She dropped a card through the door asking to call to arrange a new appointment etc etc

It is in relation to a debt of over £1000 that I ran up with O2.

I can't be sure of the exact dates that I was a customer of O2, but I do know that it would've been late 2003/ early 2004.

There is no record of this debt on my credit reports from Experian, Noddle, or annualcreditreport.co.uk.

I have no idea what the date of default was, but the earliest correspondence that I had was from 18/05/07.

the million dollar question is, what do I do?

I can reasonably assume that the account defaulted at the latest on 18/05/07, which means at most it will be statute barred in less than 7 months.

Would this visit from them suggest that their 6 year limit is running out, or is it just a routine visit?

Do Robinson Way\ Horwich Farrelly\ or 02 share information with credit reference agencies, or is there no record of it on my credit reports because it is already likely to be statute barred?

Apologies, I forgot to mention that the last letter I received in relation to this debt was from Horwich Farrelly solicitors, dated 26th September 2012.

I get letters from DCA's all the time, never worry about them because through using sites such as this I feel I'm pretty clued up and would know how to handle the situation. But I'd be lying if this hasn't surprised me just a little! My problem is I cannot be 100% sure that it is statute barred as yet. Thanks for the link to the letter, I have saved it just in case!

You answered your own question when you said it was "but I do know that it would've been late 2003/ early 2004" - Robinson Way are well known for chasing statute barred debts.

Excellent, thankyou. Right then, I'll send them that letter and I'll be back with an update when they send me details of a "phantom payment" I've made! Thanks again.
