Re-classified as 'defective' or 'not fit for purpose' ? Perhaps the next initiative will be to terminate a foetus that does not come up to specification unless the parents can guarantee independent financial support and ensure that the abomination is kept locked away so as not to offend the rest of the 'master race'.

We can then focus attention on pensioners, after all they have served any useful purpose and are now surplus to requirement, and a financial burden, just queue in an orderly fashion at the local euthanasia centre when you get the official notification.

Rest assured it won't happen in the UK, after all, we are a caring compassionate people that look after the vulnerable in our society......Aren't we?

Sounds far fetched, but just give it time.

People are already accepting the cuts without batting an eye.

When the time comes for the big one, it won't be that much of a shock.

This is just a softening up process. A rehearsal if you like.

Lib Dems are also for the chop, they've done their job in supporting the tories with the end of the welfare state, now it comes for the their payback re the Lords, their masters have shafted them.

Didn't glegg realise the Tories have allways been the enemy of the Wigs? The Conservatives fought the Liberals long before labour was even thought of.

Now the 2 enemies have united to destry the greatest thing this country created.

Nick glegg must take most of the blame he sold his party and his country for the chance to be in govenment.

One would hope at the next general election the voter of Sheffield Hallam constituency including Students give will give Nick Clegg and Lib Dems the kicking they deserve.

What will that leave us with,Tories and Labour and I dont hold any hope out with that lot too :???:

I nearly voted for the Lib-Dems; to my mind the Tories have moved further to the right and New Labour had moved to fill the gap for a centre right party. By their policies manifesto etc. (before they dropped all their principals to join this evil administration) the lib-Dems seemed the party of the people. I can't see the labour party looking after the vulnerable either, seems the sick and disabled that aren't ex service have no chance.

It won't matter who is in power, the welfare state will be dismantled.

If you look back in recent history all parties have made cuts to the welfare state.

The big difference today is, they have a great excuse to make the cuts they really want to.

"We have to make cuts to get the economy back on track"

They're getting away with murder, and the majority of people are just accepting it.

Once its gone it won't come back. People need to wake up and see the big picture, before its too late.

"We have to make cuts to get the economy back on track"
How they spend your money http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2117387/Budget-2012-Everyone-statement-revealing-tax-goes-welfare.html

Take a look at the percentage deduction from pay for unemployment, and then look at the figures for overseas aid, they are identical.

If overseas aid was scrapped tomorrow and the cash used to offset the benefits bill for sickness and disability the costs would come down by 16.3% but no, this government would rather strip the lifeline from our citizens and extend it to the third world.

Plus merging NI and income tax would remove any "right" to benefits including pensions, but so long as they can reduce the top rate for tax payers to 40% it will all be OK.

Looks like the only way for the old, sick and disabled will be prison or institutions.

Good grief - if that is true it is terrible. 30% of all tax receipts go on welfare. I honestly didn't realise that it was that high.

I do agree that that figure has to come down. How I don't know, but it is far too high.

As for overseas aid. That must continue. If people here in the UK think that we are having it hard, what about those in other countries that are actually fighting for food?

Not really our problem is it, most of the aid get's siphoned away by corrupt governments anyway, if our economy can't support our own unemployed/sick/disabled, then it sure can't help support anyone Else's. We cannot afford overseas aid it should stop now.

Well, that'll depend what you call welfare. The 2011 public spending was:

£119bn Pensions

£121bn Healthcare

£62.2bn Welfare of which 8.4bn was Unemployment.

Which makes the Unemployment Benefit section of this example of welfare spending to be just 3% or thereabouts...

Here's the link.

I thought charity started at home...

Wrong way around, the cuts start at home, the charity goes abroad. Still, I suppose we could apply for overseas aid....

I have been saying this for years now, but what do you expect?

If there is a section of the community that costs more than what they generate in income, is it any wonder that they are being sidelined?

If you were to run Great Britain as a company, what would you do with the 'stock' that does not perform at best and at worst, actually costs the company money?

That's how the politicians see it!

Pensions account for £119bn which equates to £11.90 per person who is over 65 years of age (10bn people)??????? Me thinks that figure is wrong!!

http://www.parliament.uk/documents/commons/lib/research/key_issues/Key%20Issues%20The%20ageing%20population2007.pdf

I wonder where they get their figures from. As for the rest I have doubts that it is as cut and dried as you make out.

You are quite right - your figure is wrong! £119bn divided by 10m = £11,900

I'm not entirely convinced 10bn would fit on our islands. Standing room only ... :-)

I agree with you, and by far the biggest group of scroungers are pensioners, I think if they won't work anymore they should be uthanased. Same with the sick and disabled.

Its good to keep unemployment benefit though as that will keep a reserve number of workers to replace the ones that get sick or old and have to be put down.

Also housing takes a far bigger slice than it should, much of it being taken by those in work. That should be stopped to, and those workers put in work camps.

Catastrophic, or to put it another way, survival of the fittest, which is the way the world is evolving anyway.

Ooops my maths are up the creek!! Sorry

Yes the figure should be £11900 for every person that is over 65 in this country. That's a lot of money! Well over £200 a week!!!! Which does make a mockery of what people are given to believe that pensioners are poor saying that they only receive the basic pension of £100 a week!

It's like giving the pensioners a wage equivalent to someone that works for nearly 40 hours a week before deductions on the NMW!!! Surely that can't be right?

If that is true, some pensioners must be on a good screw to get the average up to that figure.

Well according to the statistics, there are 10bn of them on the island already!!

They are as I have posted above. Surely the country can't afford to keep paying that out - and it's increasing each year - people and pensions!!

You do have a good point though with your views.

What isn't so humorous, is this time next year the world will be a very different place for the sick/disabled, with the introduction of Universal Credit, PIP(which ATOS and Capita will do the assessments for), mandatory revision before appeal, and the withdrawal of legal aid, there will be absolutely no hope of of fair treatment, and no chance of getting redress.

Universal Credit is a mine field on it's own, just one example:

Currently a sanction for not attending a WFI without good reason would be the loss of the WRAG component of ESA until re engagement.

Under Universal credit for failure to attend a Work Focused Interview, or carry out work related activity the proposed sanction is 100% of the total benefits paid for 1, 2 then 4 weeks.

The future is bleak all round I'm afraid.
