Hi,

Two things. Firstly when you post from Leagal Seagulls it is always changed as you can see. Many people use both sites, but they do not always get on well together for historical reasons that are irrelevant to most of us now.

Secondly I apologise. I too had misread your post and agree that the bailff charges should not have been paid. Getting them back however, when timing was so close cut, will I fear be near impossible.

Hi Tingy.

Just to clarify, I paid the £165 fine direct to the court via the automatic payment line on the 21st March. This went through and was debited from my account as normal. On the 28th March I received a letter from Philips saying I owed £245 and needed to pay in full to stop any further action. I contacted the court to get them to call the bailiff off and the court said they were going to refund the fine and I should pay Philips £245 quickly to avoid further costs. The court refunded the £165 on the 28th April.

Thanks

Doug

I think that a letter to your MP outlining what has happened, to you may be an option, as, these cosy cartels are acting against the common good, the fine was paid, the money debited, receipt given. It is abhorrent that they refund the fine just so Phillips can get a fee, as obviously things crossed in the post..

We could do with some help from you.

The bailiff: A 12th Century solution re-branded as Enforcement Agents for the 21st Century to seize and sell debtors goods as before Oh so Dickensian!

That's an excellent idea brassnecked. We got our MP involved over a legal issue recently concerning the DWP. He was absolutely brilliant (even though I didn't vote for him!) and managed to get his voice heard where us lesser mortals would never be able to do so.
