EGG Credit Card PPI

I sent egg a prelim for PPI on a credit card going back to 2003 and received this letter back today:

 

Thank you for your letter dated 15 March 2010. I am sorry that you have had cause to complain to us and can assure you that we take concerns raised by our customers verv seriously.

 

I have investigated the situation and can confirm the following:

 

After carrying out a comprehensive review of your Card Repayment Protection (CRP) complaint, I have arranged for a full refund of all premiums charged to your account within the past six years, together with 8% simple interest.

 

The total amount concerned is £28.27. which is broken down as follows:

 

 

• CRP premiums charged £17.39
  
• 8% interest £10.38
  

Please be aware this will be credited to your Egg account in the next 3-5 working days.

 

I trust the outcome meets with your satisfaction and can confirm your complaint is now ciosed. If you wish to discuss this complaint further please contact us using the details provided.

 

You have six months from the date of this letter to exercise your right to refer your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service.A copy of their leaflet is enclosed for your information or you can find out more on their website (www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk).

They have only gone back six years but my list went back to 2003 and the total I asked for was £237.

 

What do I do now?

 

also they sold the account on to moorcroft.

Not much advice here:(

 

Anyway, I sent them a letter saying the 6 years is from when I found out about the mis-selling of the PPI and not the actual event, and also combined this into the LBA.

You are correct about the 6 years being from when you found out. I don't know what the official legal reference is. I managed to get some refunded going back to 2002 from Egg. Forums are a bit quiet at the mo, hopefully soemone more experienced will come along sometime soon.

 

It might be because they only have 6 yrs worth of records, do you have statements going back to the beginning? If so, might be worth mentioning that you have the detail and you will hand it over to the FOS if they don't refund you.

yes have the statements from a previous SAR from a few years back (2007).

got a reply back from EGG regarding the PPI from 7 years ago:

 

The refund has been calculated in line with Egg's policy and the monies have

been applied to your outstanding Egg Card debt. Therefore, I am unable to offer

any further renunertion regarding this matter, or aqree your cheque request.

off to the fos i would go, at least it will cost egg £400-£500 for the fos to look into this:D. you have nothing to loose.

Egg are so difficult, i would go to FOS and let them deal with it but they still fight the FOS at every step.

complaint to FOS has been sent together with the new questionaire
