I haven't had the green light yet, but as you know, brussel sprouts are a blight on our lives and hence my petition should be approved shortly.

 

Your assistance is appreciated in finally culling said green evil from our upcoming Chrimbo dinners.

 

Money saved from evil sprout farming shall be invested in cocoa.

Sorry Thai - but I really really can't sign such a petition:D The humble brussel sprout reigns supreme and with great dignity and enjoyment in my household - its about the only thing about wintertime that I enjoy:rolleyes:

Crimbo lunch would just not be the same - nor would the other winter comfort meals that we enjoy:p

I only recently discovered that brussel sprouts grow on stalks and not in little net bags.....

The little button ones are born in little plastic trays and are covered in cling film to keep warm..

I once, many years ago, went into a green grocers with my mother, the lady in front of us was having a minor disagreement with the shop owner, insisting she wanted peas... little round green things not the bean type thing he was trying to sell her.

 

He had to open one of the pods to show her it contained peas .

Thai, what do you eat??? (don't answer that I suspect I might know ) anyway back to diet....

 

I have to agree with SG that chestnuts, water or otherwise are brilliant with sprouts and most of the curries I love are made with creamed coconut and normally have raisins in them too , try coronation chicken, very mild and served cold but a gorgeous flavor (sometimes used as a sandwich filling) ...

 

Put the baked beans away and try some propper food

Casdtlebest, did you know that Coronation Chicken was created for Queen Victoria's coronation celebrations, as a dish that reflected ingredients from all areas of her Empire... I think it is pretty fab too and completely wasted as a a sandwich filling.

Well, would you Adam & Eve it....just quaffed Char Sui pork from Iceland because it was half price and what was in it? Yes, bloody water chestnuts.

 

Pete....I like most other foods including beans! Coronation chicken my arse though! Chestnuts WITH sprouts is enough to make me believe there is suitable evil in the world to banish science and go with religion.

 

That is how truely twisted the combination is.
