Hey, this is my first time posting so if its in the wrong place please forgive me.

Basically early August i ran into a money problem. I sent them a letter offering a set amount of £30 a month to be paid via direct debit, about 2 weeks letter i got a letter back acknowledging my letter and telling me to get in contact. I phone them and spoke to somebody called Wayne who said my offer had been accepted and they would lower my interest and set up a direct debit to take my funds out at the start of every month. This was working for about 2 months, then i started to recieve large ammounts of phone calls (i thought this was normal so i ignored them as i have been paying by direct decit). Started to get letters through the post about the usual you need to pay ASAP, contact us etc. I checked my bank statements and noticed they hadnt been taking my direct debits for a month. Before i could contact them again to find out what was going on i recieved a letter from mercers saying i owed them £187, i rang them and the woman said my minimum payment hadnt been paid for nearly 3 months (which is correct because i had been paying £30 which barclaycard agreed to). Upon looking into my account more she said there was a note about the repayments but my bank had cancelled my direct debit after 2 months (this makes no sense). The lady said she has set it back up and the money was debited last month and i thought everything was ok again WRONG. Just before christmas i start getting lots of phone calls and letters again, upon checking my account again the direct debit hasnt been set up.

Sorry for the essay, i really dont no what to do or say to them to get my point across. Everytime i ring it go's through to that useless call center in india so i just put the phone down. Im going to write them a letter but i dont no how to get my point across to them as they seem quite stupid

any help?

Hello and Welcome, garn999.

Are there any charges you could re-claim on this account and how old is it.

Regards.

Scott.

hi, thanks

not sure, im sure they are supposed to send you a letter when they add charged to your account though arnt they? i haven't received nothing like that. I did get a letter from them this morning saying i have to pay £160 though which was a nice treat to read when i was having breakfast. They thing that annoys me is that if they set up my direct debit as they said they would have no need to send me these letters. Now i have to waste my time sorting out their mistake

edit - i have had the card for just over a year

Hi Garn,

Do you have statements for the duration of the a/c. If so, add up all penalty charges on the a/c and set about reclaiming them to reduce the balance.

Read the Reclaiming Guide at Link No1 in my signature below.

Keep a detailed log of the calls and texts you receive from BC or Mercers - you can use this later to complain about telephone harassment.

If you reclaim the charges on the a/c, they should hold collection action while this matter is investigated (but our experience shows that they don't !!).

Please confirm roughly how much you've paid in penalties and the approx balance owing on the a/c.

We could do with some help from you

Hi garn666

As advised by Slick follow the template. I did so around 3 weeks ago and have had my statements back with the lists of charges on them. Add them up and add interest if you desire(they would!). The stickies on here will give you firm advice on further action. Also,-on the martin lewis money expert site there is a useful calculator that does all the hard work for you and also has further information to use. As stated above i too have had one or two problems with Bcard (amongst others) but through great help from the people on here things will sort itself out :)
