For the past few months since I started reclaiming my charges back, I have been helping a few people do it themselves.

I do get fed up of people whinghing about how long it's taking. All I get is

"well my b-in-law/sister/freind/cousing 3 times removed/ whatever got theirs back in 3 or 4 weeks, why are you taking so long?"

All I am doing is giving them the templates off here and advising them after getting advice off here, or reading all the relevant threads. This I do form the goodness of my heart, but that is shortly going to stop. I will not sit back and get all this cr*p for helping these idiots.

Has anyone come accross so many people getting their money back in just 3 - 4 weeks or even 6 -8 weeks?

Reading on here it looks like the average time is around 6-8 months!!

Can anyone please advise?

Destiny, it really depends on the bank.

I know a few people that I have been helping with the Northern Bank have got theirs back within 3-4 weeks.

Others like First Trust and Bank Of Ireland are being particularly difficult. It will really depend on whether the bank has determined if they want to put resources into just paying up using staff to sort this out, or whether they want to put resources in to sraff denying you your rights, pretending to investigate, legal costs, seeing you in court.

1. Is the cheaper option

2. Is the hope you will get tired and go away.

Butt in the long run , more and more people are standing up the banks and we will all get our money back.

Some of us are just dealing with less forawrd thinking (how diplomatic was that) banks.

If they dont like it , tell them to do it themselves

How can you get charges back in 3-4 weeks when the banks are taking 2 months to send statements out?

One person told me her sister sent a SAR in to the bank. 3 days later the bank sent her a letter saying they will offer £1500 , she accepted. When the statements did arrive it came to £1700.

aRE THESE JUST FANTASY STORIES OR DO SOME PEOPLE HAVE 'INFORMATION' THAT WE DONT?

( sorry 'bout the caps, accident)

Welcome to my world!

Natwest are settling in about 10 weeks from ordering statements, then another 3 weeks till you get the cheque. Halifax used to settle within 28 days of LBA but don't anymore. I think the people who are saying that they are getting settlements in 3-4 weeks are telling fibs or mistaken.

I started my claims in mid february - got SARs for some in 2 weeks others took 40 days even so the first to send them still had me waiting between mid february and a settled letter which came on May 25th so Id say the average is definatley 2-3 months at the shortest.
