This is my first time on here so be gentle with me!

I have sent a letter to the facists at the Halifax claiming back just under £1700.00. I recieved a reply today thanking me for my complaint! and also saying that under FSA rules they have 8 weeks to respond and investigate complaints. They go on to say that if they have not being able to respond fully in 4 weeks they will write and advise me.

Also enclosed is a leaflet with a happy smiling bank worker on the front explaing their complaints procedure.

My questions are is this normal and do I now have to just sit and wait it out or do I need to write to them again. Any help on this would be much appreciated.

Hi Bartona --- welcome to the site. You're now well on your way to reclaiming back what is rightfully yours. It's almost like a savings account you didn't know you had ;)

You'll find lots of help, encouragement and advice on this site.

Take no notice of the halifax's stalling letters and stick to your timescales. This is your claim, not theirs!!!!!

Send off your LBA 14 days from the date of your last letter. If you hear from them with an offer in the meanwhile and aren't sure what to do, then post and someone will get back to you.

You WILL get your charges back -- whether it be at the LBA stage (which mine was, have a read of my thread to see how I got on with Howard Halifax :D) If they're not playing ball that day, you may have to go down the court route, but if you do that you will get your court costs back and will also be able to claim an additional "little xtra" in the form of 8% in interest from Howard Halifax!!

Good luck (although you don't need it) and best wishes.

Halifax - £2281, successfully refunded all charges after LBA letter & telephone call.

Have been offered the difference between the £20 and £12 charges from Capital One -- am sending LBA for remainder.

GE Money - Received settlement of £441, being total charges requested. No interest though.

CCA'd Bank of Scotland / Blair Oliver Scott to produce CCA Agreements on two Credit Cards - well in default, although still chasing payment!!!

EOS Solutions "ceased action on account" on behalf of a friend.

All in all, quite busy at the moment and enjoying every minute of it
