Did you tell housing he explicitly attempted to prevent the topping up of the tank? If so, they are simply wrong - it IS unlawful eviction.

I would say within 24 hours, 48 max for the boiler.

Absolutely shocking that your local housing department do not know housing law. You may need to consider consulting a specialist solicitor.

BB, you need to have a plan of action and tailor your steps accordingly: either you do not want to stay there any longer and therefore do not care about any further dealings with housing office, environ. office etc OR you do want to/have to stay around and need to keep up with making an awful racket about your plight; calling people, getting a solicitor etc.

In case of option one, your actions need to be directed at having all necessary evidence supporting our theory of illegal eviction, as if you leave early, the l/lord may wish to pursue you through the courts or you may wish to sue him for damages. As for the rest; draw the line, stop counting on housing office, etc, concentrate on moving away

In case of option two, your actions need to directed at forcing l/lord to fulfil his duties and it may be a painful, frustrating route.

So, what is your Big Picture?
