Hi all, after calculating last months fees decided to go for this, I've just done the DPA letter and am thinking of sending it recorded. So I guess 30 days and counting. Feeling rather daunted and have gots lots of reading to do.

So fingers crossed, I've opened another bank account just in case

  • 1 month later...

Well, the Halifax made me laugh today, I got a very speedy response from my DPA request, less then 40 days, got loads of statements posted through my letterbox this morning.

Just re-reading all the info and printing off advice and copies of letters and just downloaded the spreadsheet. Hope to have a figure and be ready to post my claim off for Monday. Very scary at how quick they replied.

I've already got a new bank account sorted so am ready to trawl through statements. Feeling excited and hopeful.

Thanks.

Read a few other threads, tricky as the kids don't quite understand why they need to be quiet etc.

I've used the spreadsheet from the library and entered through my statements, however my statements only say "Charges as Notified". Can't see any mention in some of the threads I've read to see if that is acceptable. I'm also going to have to split my claim as I am over £5k.

Will send my letter recorded with breakdown spreadsheet as it is tomorrow.

Thanks, found another thread which said the same, I keep reading but missing vital bits. Will do a whole host more reading tomorrow.

Have listed as they have listed and split my claim and am sending tomorrow 1st class recorded.

Now plan to check CC, as far as I can see the DPA letter is the same as the bank template in the library.

Thanks I thought so just being extra cautious, I very much doubt the post will bring good news tomorrow, so will prepare letter to send tomorrow. First was sent recorded delivery.

hi gingerbam

i'm same situation as you. Claiming over £8000, so 2 claims of £4000 each.

Sent 1st letter 14 days ago. Got standard reply. No offer. Posted LBA today. 14 days and counting

Good Luck with yours

I can understand anyone being nervous about this. I've yet to start my process, just reading through the forum sets my staomache churning (and blood boiling!). But isn't the point of this whole web-site that we're all in it together? I'm spreading the word, far and wide so maybe....one day things will change- good luck!

oh poopie, I spilt my claims as total for 6 years was over £5K, but calculated incorrectly and put a claim in for over £4K.

Cant believe I've done that as I had everything to had when I prepared my letter etc. Not sure how to play it now. Will put the claim in for the smaller amount. Will have to think how to play the current claim, I could sned a revised claim in I guess, saying further to my letter of..........

going now to hit head against brick wall and pray that a cheque is sent for amount ..

read and re-read check and double check from now on

Whats wrong with putting in a claim over £4000

As long as its under £5000 it is still small claims.
