Well Done on your signature!!!! Woooohhhoooooo - lol!

Yeah I agree that I think Barclays are going to be forced into this one way or another - they muct be getting pee'd off keep paying out an extra 8% and fees just because they want to see if we have the balls!!! By now, they should know...we do!

I have to admit though, that I am going to be grasping for the compound interest as I can see that we won't get to the 8%...and I want every penny back!

thanks

Emmy, your request for statements should be with the Data Protection Team at Barclays by now. You can try calling them to chase, but they will most likely take the full forty days if they can help it. But you never know, you can sometimes get lucky :) You can find the relevant department contact details from the sticky threads at the top of each bank forum. I don't have them at hand myself or I would have given you a number.

Finally bit the bullet and totalled Barclays Charges. £2210 in the last six years, the bulk of that between in 2004/2005. Was unemloyed for 4 months during that time and as a consequence I am now a CCCS debt management programme. I reckon that without the bank charges, we would have survived that period because as you may know, each bounced payment was charged twice(once by the bank and once by the credit card company. Sending the letter in the morning. Hoping that I can have the energy to pursue the rest as well. Don't have such comprehensive records for my credit cards though!

I am still trying to get the hang of this thing.. forgive me if it is all in the wrong place.

A bit of me is thinking that if we go to court, we should be able to claim the charges incurred on the other side of the failed transactions we were then charged for, the damages would be endlesss..so I guess we will have to settle for settlement!!

THEY'VE ARRIVED! THEY'VE ARRIVED!

Finally got my statements in the post this morning, going home now to collect them and spend the afternoon working out how much I can claim off Barclays :)

Also had some more good news I recived my new Citi bank card in the mail this morning. That's my parashute (I'm sure that's spelt wrong!) account opened. For all those worried about opening one, I would just like to say - try Citi, I checked my credit scrore (very poor) and they still let me open an accout.

GRRRR  bloody people have so far sent me ONE statement...ONE bloody statement from the last 6 years - are they having a laugh at me! And I wouldn't mind, but it appears to be the ONE month in the last 6 years that I ddn't get a single bank charge! The irony is so deep, I can see how it takes them 40 days to come up with it!

I couldn't see anything that said ifyou where supposed to include the statements with the first letter or of that was just for the courts, but hey figured I may as well put it in there.

So off to the mail room we go.

Anyway - Emmy, are you claiming compound?

Anotheer thing, can you believe I had my first charge only in Aril 2004 - thats nearly a grand in less than 3 years!

I am now moving EVERYTHING I have to Halifax tomorrow - stuff em!

Glad you finally got your statement.

About the phone, that was EXACTLY the same thing that happened to me. Very odd but seems to work wonders. So anyone else out there who's waiting for statement try giving them a ring 0845 755 5555.

I'm claiming 8% interest (not sure if that is compound! - just the amount MCOL allows!). Brings my total up to just over £3K :D

In a completely unrealted to bank charges thing... please please please could everyone who reads this do this....

I urge you to read and act upon the following.

This really is very important.

There are only 13 days left to register your objection to the 'Pay as you

go' road tax - which closes to petitions on the 20th February 2007.

The petition is on the 10 Downing St website but they didn't tell anybody

about it. Therefore at this time only 671,354 people have signed it so far

and 750,000 signatures are required to stop them introducing it.

Once you've given your details (you don't have to give your full address,

just house number and postcode will do), they will send you an email with a

link in it. Once you click on that link, you'll have signed the petition.

Democracy in action?

The government's proposal to introduce road pricing will mean you having to

purchase a tracking device for your car and paying a monthly bill to use

it. The tracking device will cost about £200 and in a recent study by the

BBC, the lowest monthly bill was £28 for a rural florist and £194 for a

delivery driver. A non working mother who used the car to take the kids to

school paid £86 in one month.

On top of this massive increase in tax, you will be tracked. Somebody will

know where you are at all times. They will also know how fast you have been

going, so even if you accidentally creep over a speed limit in time you can

probably expect a Notice of Intended Prosecution with your monthly bill.

If you care about our freedom and stopping the constant bashing of the car

driver, please sign the petition on No 10's new website (link below) and

pass this on to as many people as possible."

Got my first response from Barclays this morning.

A thank you for contacting us, sorry you're not happy with the service we provide blah blah blah.

They have said that they will respond by the 7th March.

My question is should I wait till the 7th until they respond? I know most people are saying you should stick to your own time scale, but I am wondering if I give them time to respond if they are more likely to respond positively, or is this just wishful thinking?

Also should I acknowledge their letter and warn them they only now have 4 days to respond "properly"?

Emmy, stick to your timeline...this is just their way of buying more time to waste...they will not send you anything by the 7th that you want to hear of...most likely it will be a partial offer, or even a letter to say they reckon their charges are fair and transparent and therefore they owe you nothing. No need to acknowlegde this either, just send your LBA when it's due :)
