Hello,

Yesterday Abbey took £175 from my account for unpaid direct debits? I am fully aware that i did not have the money in my account to pay for these DDs but surely taking £175 of money i do not have is unfair? By taking this money thaey have drawn on a cheque that has not cleared yet, surely if i cant draw on it they cant either?

I am living on benefits. Is there any way i can reclaim my money of have i just lost it by being an irresponsible ****wit?

thanks

rhiannan

xx

Hi and welcome,

You can reclaim all your bank charges over the past 5-6 years. Read the F.A.Q's Spend some time looking round the site. Everything you need to reclaim your charges is here, It just takes some time to take it all in.Have a look in your banks forum and ask some questions, there are plenty of people willing to help you out.

Best wishes.

Scott.

Any advice I give is honest and in good faith.:)

Worth having a look for "Right of Appropriation" letter in the templates library. This gives you prior claim on deposits for living expenses, food etc;, though you need to issue a letter for each deposit. Worth it if benefits are to be paid into the account. Some excellent posts on the subject around the forum.:)

Some links that may help you out.

I apologise for this one, but why did you not cancel the DD's. Right of Apropriation relates to benefits if i am right by the way.
