"Henry Staunton had only been in post since 2022. But when he was sacked he says Kemi Badenoch told him: ‘Someone’s got to take the rap’" also:

• He was instructed by a senior civil servant to stall on compensation payments to Horizon victims so the government could “limp into the election” with the lowest possible financial liability.

• The government body that manages taxpayers’ ownership of the Post Office told its chief executive to write to the lord chancellor stating the reason so few sub-postmasters had come forward to have their convictions overturned was because they were “guilty as charged”."

 

Wonder if @theoldrouge will condemn badenough for collusion in these monstrous acts, and ongoing prosecutions and persecutions?

He certainly seems to have trouble condemning Trump and tayler Greene (among many others) and the MAGA caucus' racism and blatant antisemitism

 

Does seem to be indicative of clear conspiracy on the governments part eh?

The quality and experience of many recent Government ministers has been below par in recent years.

On the Tory backbenches there are much more able and experienced people who could perform Ministerial roles, but they are probably not seen as part of any grouping in the party who must be represented within Government.

The problem with the Tories is that they have become a party of different factions and they are involved in campaigning for their particular brand of Conservatism, rather than concentrate on practical policies that may be capable of working to improve the quality of life in the UK.

Sunak is in real trouble economically, because he cannot justify reducing taxes, when public services are struggling and national debt is increasing. Tory MP's may want tax cuts in the belief it may stop them losing their seats, but this may be impossible to achieve, unless the Government look to cut taxes for workers and cover this by adding tax burdens to those with wealth. But that would be a very un Conservative thing to do, as they believe in wealth creation as the main pillar of what they stand for.

Worse than not justifying tax cuts (apart from allowing the richest to get away with tax evasion) - services/council funding will need to be cut even further under tory fiscal mismanagement

NONE of which excuses what more and more seems to be clear guv directional instruction in the PO scandal events - as long suspected - but that moral mismanagement now becoming clear.

Of course there will be denial, because I doubt the delaying tactics were ever written or recorded.

I think the blacked out (redacted) attendees at the PO meetings along with the blacked out minutes from those meetings might beg to differ on that and a number of obnoxious plans, decisions and directions

So do we believe badenoughs spokeperson 'not recognising those assertions,  or a guy who was brought in to address the issues and has put some meat around the bones of his assertion

 

Clue - it aint badenough who will claim she never said/you all misunderstood waffle waffle .... when more evidence comes out

Yesterday Kemi Badenoch, the business and trade secretary, accused the former Post Office chair, Henry Staunton, of giving an interview “full of lies” about the conversation they had when she sacked him recently. Josh Halliday has the story here, and here is one of the tweets from a thread that Badenoch posted on Twitter.

 

My call with Staunton was with officials. They took a complete record. He has given an interview full of lies about our conversation during his dismissal. The details will emerge soon enough as I won’t let the matter rest here, but will be discussing with govt lawyers. (3/5

i do keep doing regular searches trying to find out whats happening with Vennells and what the heck her services to charity were ..

Thats all I can find apart from her being paid 60K by charities for sitting on some charity boards - and God knows what she did on those given whats coming to light re PO

A BBC report revealed David Cameron’s government knew the Post Office ditched Horizon IT investigation

 

"Staunton has hit back, with a lengthy statement in which he says had not even been told about the bullying allegation against him that Badenoch implied, in her statement to MPs, was a major reason for his dimissal. A spokesperson for Staunton said:

This is the first time the existence of such allegations have been mentioned and Mr Staunton is not aware of any aspect of his conduct which could give rise to such allegations.

They were certainly not raised by the Secretary of State at any stage and certainly not during the conversation which led to Mr Staunton’s dismissal. Such behaviour would in any case be totally out of character."

On the face of it, it discloses a conspiracy by the Post Office to pervert the course of justice."
