    • I live in a student house, with 5 tenants, unihomes is our utilities provider, who we each have a direct debit set up with and have paid each bill every month. Two letters were sent in my name by BWLegal saying I had two outstanding payments due adding up to over £3500, I have tried to contact british gas (as that is apparently our houses provider) as well as Unihomes. Nothing has helped and BWlegal are pursuing legal action if these debts are not resolved by the 1st May. What do I do? I've called Bwlegal when i bring up that the debt isnt for me and for unihomes they hang up on me. so I am stressed and do not know what to do

    • Hi, everyone. I received a letter from TfL investigator/Prosecutor. The letter reads as follow:   ''Thank you for responding to our enquiry letter. Your comments will be taken into consideration when reviewing whis case and we will contact you as soon as we have reached a decision. TfL now consider prosecution against passengers who are in breach of all TfL byelaw offences and I must inform you that further legal action may be taken. TfL byelaws can be found at ... Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can assist you further.''   The letter was sent 23 days after I replied to them. Should I send another begging letter to IAP? I'm extremely scared now. Thanks all.

    • Hello,

On 15/1/24 booked appointment with Big Motoring World (BMW) to view a mini on 17/1/24 at 8pm at their Enfield dealership.

Car was dirty and test drive was two circuits of roundabout on entry to the showroom.  Was p/x my car and rushed by sales exec and a manager into buying the mini and a 3yr warranty that night, sale all wrapped up by 10pm.  They strongly advised me taking warranty out on car that age (2017) and confirmed it was honoured at over 500 UK registered garages.

The next day, 18/1/24 noticed amber engine warning light on dashboard , immediately phoned BMW aftercare team to ask for it to be investigated asap at nearest garage to me. After 15 mins on hold was told only their 5 service centres across the UK can deal with car issues with earliest date for inspection in March ! Said I’m not happy with that given what sales team advised or driving car. Told an amber warning light only advisory so to drive with caution and call back when light goes red.

I’m not happy to do this, drive the car or with the after care experience (a sign of further stresses to come) so want a refund and to return the car asap.

Please can you advise what I need to do today to get this done.

      Many thanks

    • We have finally managed to obtain the transcript of this case.

The judge's reasoning is very useful and will certainly be helpful in any other cases relating to third-party rights where the customer has contracted with the courier company by using a broker.
This is generally speaking the problem with using PackLink who are domiciled in Spain and very conveniently out of reach of the British justice system.

Frankly I don't think that is any accident.

One of the points that the judge made was that the customers contract with the broker specifically refers to the courier – and it is clear that the courier knows that they are acting for a third party. There is no need to name the third party. They just have to be recognisably part of a class of person – such as a sender or a recipient of the parcel.

Please note that a recent case against UPS failed on exactly the same issue with the judge held that the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 did not apply.

We will be getting that transcript very soon. We will look at it and we will understand how the judge made such catastrophic mistakes. It was a very poor judgement.
We will be recommending that people do include this adverse judgement in their bundle so that when they go to county court the judge will see both sides and see the arguments against this adverse judgement.
Also, we will be to demonstrate to the judge that we are fair-minded and that we don't mind bringing everything to the attention of the judge even if it is against our own interests.
      This is good ethical practice.

It would be very nice if the parcel delivery companies – including EVRi – practised this kind of thing as well.

It was a lot easier to use CAG with the old format.  Now when you do New or Unread Posts you only get several posts coming up.  If you click on a post to read it, when you are finished and click to go out, it takes you to the top of the page of new posts and you have to scroll down to find the one that you have just viewed.  Must a admit I don't personally like the drab colours associated with the pages.

I got that however the issue is that when you bring it up and click on a post to read which may be near the bottom, when you are finished and come out of the post you are taken back up to the top of the page.  You then have to scroll and try and remember where it was so that you can look at the following post!

We already have an ongoing thread in connection to the upgrade where you can post questions....and hopefully resolve problems

Can we keep it in one place rather than numerous threads.

Andy

I have gotten in to the habit of opening links in a new tab and when I'm done. close the tab. Whilst this may not work for mobile users, most modern browsers support tabbed browsing.

I wasn't a great fan of the old site layout.

I prefer the look and feel of this new site, keep up the good work.

Hopefully these type of errors are temporary😊

Hi Jemn

Or you could simply go to the relevant forum........rather than search

There may well be broken hyperlinks.

If you can let us know when you find one, then we can probably find its target and then correct it.

That would be very helpful to everyone and we would appreciate it. Thanks

This new layout is so confusing and just plain horrible. The idea you have to go back two pages just to see any new posts is ridiculous imo.

Also why are posts here being altermatically posted over onto Twitter? If I wanted them there I'd post them there. Utterly ridiculous.

What's happened to this site? I can't find anything! Mobile or laptop it all looks like Zippy from Rainbow has been let loose with his colouring crayons! It's about as user-friendly as the DWP website!

Sort it out CAG owners! Way to go to kill your already dwindling user base! For a forum that's moderated tighter than North Korea I can't understand how you can get this upgrade SO wrong!

Come on BankFodder, you asked for feedback and the general consensus is "Our survey said... 'Waah-Waah! XXX' "

post titles have been automatically tweeted over to Twitter for at least six or seven years.

There are at least 90000 or so tweets on Twitter which shows you how long it has been going on.

It must be simply that in the past you have never noticed

  • AndyOrch changed the title to CAG New look forum

Only post 1 of a new thread is tweeted......its amazing how tweeting your " Queries" quickly resolves and extinguishes the problem by getting their attention.........the power of social media hey ?

I was not aware of this and cannot recall giving permission for my posts to moved to Twitter.  Is your name shown?  Anything to do with Facebook and Twitter I avoid like the plague!

Sorry you seam to have mixed up my concern with whatever.........

The https://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/111-benefits-and-hmrc/ now only shows sticky posts on the 1st page.

An actual and valid post asking for help now will only appear on page 2 when it is created.

If you seriously do not understand how this might be an issue........

I truly despair!

If I ask a question it has to be on page 1 as who [removed]  is going to go to page 2 to help me for a new questin?

Well you seem to think that will happen but..........

Nobody disabled is going to now get past page 1 as there is zero new content there.

I can turn on caps lock if you like but you ain't listening are you!

No need to shout. The number of stickies in the Benefits forum is a subject that has already been raised behind the scenes.

You could simply have a few stickies that contain/collate listed links for certain individual benefits.

Going to be a lot of crossover so a simple link to the answer/thread/post and everything is good!

It's not (5 banning points awarded by a mod - insert favourite word about sex beginning with f here) rocket science? Although the ing at the end might be stone cold Olympic Ice skating 10!

Rightsnet up dated not long ago and did a very good job of it. Here whilst I'm neither here nor there I'd love to see the disability impact study you did of this change????
