HMRC falsely claiming box ticked for further harassment

[/HMRC are claiming that a "further information" box was ticked but there was no further information included on a child tax credit form from five years ago when my daughter was attending college and now want the payments back. I know for a fact I hadn't ticked this box as there wasn't any additional information. Could I please have suggestions as to how to deal with this?

Data Protection subject access requests are free for HMRC. Just point them to what information you are seeking.

 

It is a computer data problem and you need them to access the paper forms that were completed.

 

You will have to register a formal complaint with them about this, otherwise they will just continue on their process of trying to obtain the money back.
