as far as im aware im not paying for the System Speedup Program......when I installed Avira in was with that..........with regards to Windows 8 or 8.1 (i know what you mean when you shudder) i think il just leave everything the way it is.....with much thanks to you I have finally got my laptop working again :thumb: so I think upgrading things, could just be asking for trouble........with regards to Dropbox, if im not mistaken it was already installed on the laptop when I bought it............so is it pretty self explanatory on how to use it?......i dont know why, but it scares me moving things to something that ive never used :noidea:

Hi once more,

Thanks for your PM to let me know that the connection is still behaving itself. At the moment I don't have enough posts to reply.

Hopefully the information here will help anyone else suffering the same problem with the HH5.

There are 2 kinds of people in the world; Those who can extrapolate from incomplete data

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

Excuse me while I get on my soapbox for a moment (and this is a general rant to everyone, not directed at you in any way ;))

but data storage these days is cheap, and in such there is no reason at all to have backups of your photos and important documents.

Excuse me while I jump up on your soapbox

All important data should be backed up. Cloud storage, whilst inexpensive and easy to use, is vulnerable to changes in company policy and relies on someone else maintaining the hardware. Burning data to CD is OK for short term storage (three to five years), but disks do not last for ever. Also, data formats change, so there is no guarantee that future software will be able to read the files.

If you have images stored on computer, consider getting them printed on to photographic paper and then store them in a dry cupboard. When your hard drive fails, the cloud disappears, or the CDs are unreadable, you will still have the prints to look at.

I have seen too many people lose their baby and other important family photos after a disk failed.

  • 2 months later...

Excellent job there by alchamist.

I'll add one thought: Microwave oven use is horrendous for disconnecting wifi.

So make sure it isn't 'pinger' meals ruining your game night

The Tory Legacy

Record high: Taxes, Immigration, Excrement in waterways, energy company/crony profits

Crumbling: Hospitals, Schools, council services, businesses and roads

If only the Govt had thrown a protective ring around care homes

with the same gusto they do around their crooked MPs
