Good evening all.

Hope im posting in right place, I currently rent private and would like to move out to another borough into another private rent property.

I receive HB and pay the short full, this other property is actually £200 cheaper.

So what im asking is do i just give my landlord notice and change address with all depts and go? Is it that simple???

Thanks in advance.

Yes, in the correct place, although I have amended your title to reflect the issue. I am sure someone will look in on you soon :)

It's not quite as simple as that afraid. You apply for HB from your own LA where you live so from the day you move you will need to claim from your new LA and not from your old one. Also each LA has different LHA rates, so you may be eligible for a different amount in your new area. You should be able to find your new LA LHA rates on their website though.

My LA tend to chose where people will rent, they have their own budget what they are prepare to pay, also check out the new LA where you are wanting to move and see if they will give you HB and what's their boundary!
