I hve been hounded ,to the point where i have pulled the plug out of my home phone and now paying for a service i cant use !!

The company is question is The National Insitute for economic and social research working on behalf ,they tell me ,for the DWP..

When they rang they knew my name and that i was claiming Jobseekers and told me i had agreed to this survey via the jobcentre....

The questions are intrusive and very personal and i have told them i dont want to participate, as i was unaware the questions were so personal and in any event i only had their word for it they they were who they said they were..

They ring me 7 days a week and wont take no for an answer... I have emailed their offices and told them i will report their telephone harrassment if it continues....But who do i complain to????

I will be talking to my adviser at the jobcentre tomorrow and insisting they stop passing my phone number on... and i dare not put my plug back in the phone :(

Who is your network provider BT?

You can go through their malicious calls procedure http://www.bt.com/includingyou/calling-easier-unwanted-calls.html?s_cid=con_FURL_unwantedcalls

I think it is these lot, defo in London anyhow.

http://www.niesr.ac.uk/aboutniesr2.8.php

And these are the management!

http://www.niesr.ac.uk/aboutniesr2.1.php

Give the OFT&TS a ring via http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Dl1/Directories/UsefulContactsByCategory/Governmentcitizensandrightscontacts/DG_195948

They may tell you to write a letter, if so there is one here, it may need a little editing, but the general gist of it is that you want them to stop harassing you by telephone, remove your number from their database and even apologise for their actions!

http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/content.php?493-Harassment-by-telephone-response-letter

And I would also lodge a formal complaint to Ofcom about them.

http://www.ofcom.org.uk/contact-us/

And whilst were on the issue of complaints, you won't go wrong complaining to your local MP and have them raise this issue in the commons, or at the very least have Ian Duncan Smith explain why the DWP uses such harassment.

UPDATE.....

I have just had a message left on my answering machine in reply to the email sent to The Insistute of Economics and Social Reserch and they have no knowledge of any such survey that they are currantly running, they do not know me and assure me this is not how they conduct surveys............

So someone and it is a call centre i can hear others talking in the background....Is using their name and the name of the DWP and radomly phoning people.........

For what reason i ask myself??? and how did they know i was on a benefit....Its all very strange....

I spoke to my adviser at the jobcentre and she was very alarmed and i have written a statement.however i shall have to amend as i now know these calsl were not from who they said they were.......

I have plugged the phone back in because now i want to talk to them and find out who they really are............Its a withheld number ...... very puzzled

Most likely an international outfit, this needs reporting to the Police, and Ofcom see if they have had any other complaints about this?

Also report it to these lot..

Could be a coincidence? But being the man I am I would be a little suspicious too....Have you got anymore details on them, an address or phone number, and is that how you spell the name? Is that exactly how they introduced themselves to you?

Could merit a bit more digging around, give me something to do..

Scroll down to procurement.

So from what you have said, I would deduce that your conversation with JCP is the reason why you've not had a call today! Call me a cynic..:faint:

spoke too soon

had a phone call at 8 pm

A man this time asked for me by name.I asked who he worked for he said

The national institude of research

I asked if he was working for the DWP and he said emphaticly YES.

I said that i had spoke to the DWP and they were not conducting any surveys nor would they over the phone!

I aksed that he stop ringing me and hung up...The number was withheld...

I doubt they will stop even though im aware they are not who they say they are....

Other than change my number that i understand Virgin will charge me the princely sum of £25 for,or unplug my phone,i dont see

how i can make this stop........ I am hoping they will just tire of me not co-operating and leave me alone ;(

Hmm, IMO I would go back to JCP and lodge a formal complaint with the manager there. I know they said they don't conduct surveys like this, but the truth of the matter is that they do use this outfit to conduct surveys so they can instruct the company to remove your details from their records, failing which a complaint to the ICO might prove worthwhile.

If they ring again, ask them for their name, contact telephone number, their line managers name and contact number and their companies house registration number. And if they can forward you a copy of their complaints procedure.

I would be very much inclined to make the complaint in writing as well as over the phone, talk is cheap and won't provide you with any evidence unless you can record your calls?

By all means complain over the phone, but tell them that you will follow up your complaint in writing, and will exhaust their complaints procedure which you expect to be sent out first thing Tuesday.
