HI I have to go on a Cv drop next week with peopleserve. I am trying my best to gain employment applying constantly for vacancies. I am going on a cv drop to shops but i have no retail experience and suffer from anxiety which i am trying to control myself instead of taking medication. I am very anxious about this but dont know what to do and i am worried about suffering a anxiety attck. Do I explain to my advisor at peopleserve and tell them my concerns. Any advise please. Please no rude replys anxiety is a real condition which i am trying to overcome alone.

Yes, you should talk to your advisor. They may be able to help you with coping strategies, or if not, refer you to people who can or provide other reasonable adjustments to assist you with this.

My advice is based on my opinion, my experience and my education. I do not profess to be an expert in any given field. If requested, I will provide a link where possible to relevant legislation or guidance, so that advice provided can be confirmed and I do encourage others to follow those links for their own peace of mind. Sometimes my advice is not what people necesserily want to hear, but I will advise on facts as I know them - although it may not be what a person wants to hear it helps to know where you stand. Advice on the internet should never be a substitute for advice from your own legal professional with full knowledge of your individual case.

Please do not seek, offer or produce advice on a consumer issue via private message; it is against

forum rules to advise via private message, therefore pm's requesting private advice will not receive a response.

(exceptions for prior authorisation)

Personally I have never heard of peopleserve, is it this organisation?

http://www.peopleserve.com/

They appear to specialise in helping people who have health issues such as your anxiety. Definitely have a word with your adviser and voice your concerns if it is the right organisation then they should be able to help out in a practical way and offer you the right level of support. If it really is going to cause you bad anxiety attacks then maybe ask if you could postpone at the momemt and get to know your adviser a bit better before heading out on your CV drop.

Whats a stage 3 CV drop? Never heard of it! Is this what they are making us do now? Dropping our CVs into places? I know Ive got a job fair coming up on the 23rd but sorry I aint taking no CVs if they want one they can damn well ask. How long have you been employed? I would go and see your GP and mention your anxiety as I had this problem with another job centre earlier this year. I would also change your job centre if the one your going to is harsh.

Ha...it does sound rather naff, doesnt it ?. But it doesnt surprise me, the job center seem to think getting a job is like on Eastenders where you wander around your (very) local area, asking 'gissa job mate', of course for the vast majority of us, job searching involves, looking online, applying for professional posts, etc but I suppose a CV drop could be ok for casual bar work, etc.Andy

If you are anxious about dropping off CV's I can't see how you would be able to work in a shop without having some help with the anxiety issues first. Talk to your advisor and explain your fears, will someone be going with you? If you think retail is the way to go then maybe some voluntary work where less is expected of you would be a good starting point.

Yes Flump 76 I got on a 6 month course with a well known advisory agency and am being trained to be a vol telephone Assessor through this site.

Although the job centre know Im on this course they are still rumbling about sending me on this work programme thing....this is unfair since I am doing this course and I am observing and working to improve my job prospects...
