I don't usually go into the bus station as I've always had a car.... But

had to cross this afternoon to get to the Gala Bingo car park, when I spotted

this rather strangely placed loading plate actually placed inside the bus station!!

Pic1 is of the plate, and pic2 is from behind the plate showing the surroundings..

What if I park my car there tomorrow, right under the plate with Mum's Blue Badge on display??!

Bearing in mind that the plate states Monday to Saturday,

and that tomorrow is Sunday!???

As already stated its a restriction not a parking place so the zig zag trumps it, BB is not valid on a zig zag.

A bit later today I'll knock a letter up and ask the Council

for an explanation, just for the fun of it, see what they say!

I'll save you a stamp! The zig zag is newer than the railings there used to be a DYL that ended in line with the 'no entry' signs with a loading restriction on at the times shown. They have changed the road layout but have missed the sign on the railings when they removed the DYL.

Thinking about it a bit more, I think the bus station might actually be owned

and maintained by GMPTE and not the Council, so wonder what legal standing

the crossing has if it's private property??

Stands corrected! LOL!

Just goes to show, like I said in post#1 how infrequently I go into

the bus station, it looks like they've completely resurfaced since

the crossing was installed..

Still wonder what legal standing the crossing has, if indeed

the bus station is owned by GMPTE ??

Ownership is irrelevant a traffic order can be imposed on any road that the public have a right of way over.

Cheeky email sent to Parking Services! :-D

Re: Blue Badge parking at Ashton Bus Station.

Dear Sirs,

Please find attached 2 photo's from Ashton Bus Station.

My question is, given the hours of operation on the time plate on

"Ash-Bus-1.jpg", that it would be safe to park my car immediately

next to the time plate so that the passenger door were to open to

within 6 inches of the plate itself, whilst my Mother was with me and

we were to display my Mothers Blue Badge anytime during a Sunday,

bearing in mind the plate is operational Monday to Saturday, without

fear of any Penalty Charge Notices for doing so.

Ash-Bus-2.jpg is provided for ease of reference to the location.

I look forward to your response in this matter, and for the purpose of

requiring a response, please treat this email as a request for information

pursuant the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

Yours Faithfully,

David ........

Just a bit of fun, see what comes back! :whoo:

Got a reply back, both email and letter..... From the Assistant Executive Director...

"Dear Sir, parking on ZigZag areas is prohibited".

(short and simple!)

No reference to the loading plate at all.... Request for full TRO

sent including notes/zone maps/full disclosure....

ps You do know that a pedestrian crossing is implemented under section 23 RTRA 1984 and doesn't need a TRO?
