I was a director of a limited company that folded in the summer. The company is in the process of being removed from the company register. Unfortunately the company was not able to pay all its creditors, the council being one and today I had a baliff turn up at my home demanding the unpaid business rates.

There was no money left to pay staff let alone the council.

Can someone provide some guidence.

Thanks

if the buisness has not been made insolvent then yes bailiffs can chase you. unless you have a car or something still registered to the buisness, bailiffs can NOT enforce a liabilty order for a ltd company at a home address . they have probably got your address from companies house.
