Work focussed interview and adviser being v pushy.

Hi guys

 

I attended a work focussed interview last month and I have another one on wednesday (6 sessions I believe.)

 

I was told that I had to find voluntary work (part-time) within 6 months and full paid work within 9 months otherwise I would lose my benefits.

 

But early this year, I had an atos medical and was deemed unfit for work. I am on esa and middle rate of dla.

 

I was under the impression that the personal advisers are there to help me, and not to threaten me to find work before I'm well enough.

 

I suffer from a mental health condition, and my therapist has said that finding work before I have completed my treatment would be extremely detrimental to my condition. He has even put this in a 16 page report which I'm taking to the job centre on wednesday.

 

I'm left feeling very worried and confused. This situation is not helping me at all. Can anyone offer any advice? thanks

First question which springs to mind is, did the ATOS dr give a time frame of when he/she judged you'd be fit to go back to work? if they did, has this time elapsed? if not then i would complian very strongly about the "advisors" actions.

I can't really say much else but i think that the above should give you some ammo for the next "interview" and if all else fails you must not forget that you have a duty to inform any potential employer about anything which may have a baring on your ability to safely and reliably do a job, if you know what i mean:madgrin:. Somehow when i do this i never get invited for an interview

No they didnt. They just said I was deemed unfit for work. Can these people at the WFI's force me to go back to work under threat of losing my benefits? Like I said before, my psychotherapist feels that returning to work at this stage would have a serious adverse affect on my condition, but I told the adviser this last time and they refused to listen.

Hello there. I hope I'm not mixing up benefits, but it may depend which group you've been recommended for by the lovely Atos. Do you know which one you're in?

 

As regards the voluntary work, you may need to wait for one of our experts to come along. With the best will in the world, Hadenough [hello to you] and I are claimants rather than people who've worked with the system. I hope someone will be along later with some more comments for you.

I am currently attending A4E pathways to work interviews after being signed off by ATOS for another 18 months minimum

 

Talk about a waste of taxpayers money, surely they should've waited until my 18 months was up?

It's the government penalising the genuinely sick and disabled yet again. Most of us do want to work, but we are simply just not well enough, but I think they believe are all just "work-shy" which is not the case.

I was so angry how that woman treated the vulnerable pushing sick or others into work without proper care and training expect them to just take any job as long as they can cross their jobless list how I wish I can meet her she'll sure watch her step with me.

Yes I saw that programme - they got them all working at " Poundland " , that's the [problem] they use ; ASDA is also involved , their top brass backed the cuts , OK they'll take a few on only because it's been on the telly , all good PR ; but usually they sack them off after a month .

 

There was a comment on Digital Spy re the woman that was coming in smelling like a distillery / brewery - " At least she's now a smart alcoholic " - The point is Hayley Taylor is NOT trained / qualified to deal with complicated & involved problems like addiction . What she's doing is bush medicine , & her ignorance can do more harm than good .

 

There was all this Sales Talk about caterpillars and butterflies , a few women wanted Sherrie & Hayley to fly away too in a manner of speaking ....another said if she ( Hayley ) spoke to me like that , I'd knock her teeth so far down her throat , they'd eventually end up in the toilet pan .
