Error billings, failure to respond to customer complaints, placing obstacles in the way of switching, and high tariffs-just a few of the things British Gas are systematically accused of.

Sme's sole traders, and partnerships are getting fed up with this.

Bumping your thread

We were held to ransom by BG continually applying standing charges to a property that we purchased but totally gutted out with a renovation and they were told about and told to cap off the supply as the property had been vandalised and all copper etc stripped out

Thanks.

Strange theres not more response-I am personally aware of some very damning cases.

Even after a switch it seems their final readings are in excess of the actual true reading-meaning that the customer is actually paying a final bill which includes an amount for unused gas !!

I'm aware of lots of problems, but then all of the Big 6 are the same to a lesser or greater extent depending on the case, but then I resolve these issues for a living so I come across more than your average business would. In my experience E-on and Scottish Power are worse than British Gas Business and nPower is on a par with BGB.

With BGB if you know their process's well and you correctly manage your energy supply (as the customer) then their are very few uncorrectable issues. However I appreciate that the average SME/Medium business won't know the in's and out's and will get caught out. Then because they don't know the process's they will then get themselves in further hot water and often ends up in a big bill on deemed/out of contract /rollover contract rates.

I dont see the distinction with SMEs and Micro's

The competition investigation into banking and SMEs in the late 90s (Cruickshank report) recognised a SME as a sole trader/Partnership.

The term Micro seems to have been adopted since then.....but IMO is still representitive of a SME.

i've had a hell of a time with scottish business gas

since i brought my business oct 08

i've paid over £4.5k for gas they will not understand there is a serious over read on the meter and want £390 + £89 fitting fee for an exchange meter.

there is a thread somewhere

i'll post more tomorrow

i remember one conv with a rep, whereby i said i'm using 167kWh per DAY

all she did was put her hand over the phone and asked her mate if they thought it was ok

and cameback saying thats very low for a 6 bedroom establishment.

now battling a disconnection notice for £1500+ bill for the last qtr

dx

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

OFGEM have defined a microbusiness in Legislation as set out in article 2(1) of the Gas and Electricity Regulated Providers (Redress Scheme) Order 2008 [s.I.2008/2268]

a) Consumes less than 200,000kWh of Gas OR

b) Consumes less than 55,000kWh of Electricity OR

c) Has fewer than 10 employees AND an Annual Turnover OR Annual Balance sheet total not exceeding 2m Euros

Hence your definition, or Cruickshank's definition is unfortunately irrelevant.
